hunting dogs

why dont dogs need hearing protection? if they have way better hearing then us wouldnt a shot gun seriously injur a dogs hearing? 
I know thats something a child would ask but I always wondered it.

Dogs ears dont physically bother them by the sound of a gun shot ... how ever if the dog is still new to the whole Hunting thing they might get REALLY scared by the loud sound  of gun which causes them to react to it some dogs bark some cry some run couple of feet to the back and sit down in fear and some dont ever care ...

so if you have a dog thats Scared of gun shots here is what u do :

if they are puppies you need to clap very loud around them more often ... specially when they are doing things they like ..ex: eating playing with toy and etc

Once ur dog is ok with the sound of the clap go to the next level by banging 2 pots.

Then gradually your dog will start being comfortable to these sudden sounds and wont mind them and thats when ur dog is ready to hunt with u ...
