Actually no, Mavs looked awful. Then they got spanked in their next game against the Nuggest (22 point loss) and even that one should have been more like a 30 point loss.
Both games played IN Dallas also. They need to shape it up quick in this shortened season

They will be just fine if they can keep up with Dirk He is their Larry Bird of the team afterall
Dirk looks good as usual but the rest of the team looks lazy Its a long shot if they repeat

Boston...... YOU GOT SERVED.
And regarding to the Mavs .... Im SURE they will be fine ... its just a bad start they had and Vets like marion, terry and Dirk will lead the team good. i personally would love to see a rematch of 2011 in 2012 ... things will be ALOT different this time if it happens again.

You're right.
I think LBJ will win a couple in MIA, then return to Cleveland once Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson get into their contracts. Then he will win 1-2 in Cleveland
That's my dream at least

The Lakers aren't even a part of the conversation this year.
Oklahoma City might just make it into the Finals this year. I hate to say it (because I'm from Seattle) but they are damn fucking good. Dallas can't match what they did last year, not possible. Especially with Lamar Scrotum playin like a total cheesedick. Dude is like 5 for 40 shooting this season. And he's on my fantasy team

Idk where you guys are from. But where I am from absolutely nobody watches or cares about the NBA. Maybe it's as a result of not having a team nearby? IDK, we all like hockey more.
Basketball in general is not regarded as popular. Some college, but it doesn't have a huge following.

Does something need to be "regarded as popular" for you to be interested in it? I hope not.
I live in Seattle, where a majority of the population is still butt sore about the Sonics being hijacked outta here to Oklahoma City. I know so many people who completely gave up on the NBA after that happened. They don't care about or watch basketball anymore. To me, those people were never really basketball fans to begin with. I'm just as pissed off about the OKC deal, but I'm also passionate about the sport. I could never just decidedly be done with it. I played and followed basketball my entire life.
I think basically, there are people who are passionate about a sport, and then others who just want to "root for the home team". Most fall into the latter category.
I hear from old dudes all the time, that "oh the NBA ain't what it used to be". I always laugh at these guys, because I know that there's just as much talent in the game right now as there ever was (and yes I watched all those great rivalries in the late 80's and 90's). There are some deplorable things about the system and structure of the NBA, and David Stern is a fucking joke of a person for sure. The game itself though, the fierce competition and athletic prowess, is still poetry in motion, and very worth watching imo.

Cavs are in a rebuilding year. Anything close to .500 will be a success. Then if we can get a big man in the next draft or FA class, then we will be set.

Last nights game was awesome, I love me some Heat losing.
I have always kind of liked the Clippers (and most underdogs for that matter) but now that they have Chris Paul and Chauncey Billups they are actually a legitimate contender in the West.
I am loving some of the new powers in the NBA. The emergence of Oklahoma City, the Knicks, and the Clippers are the big stories. Shame the Knicks couldnt accommodate a trade to have gotten them CP3. I think the Knicks are missing 1 piece to be an actual matchup for the Heat in a 5-7 game series.
My Power Rankings right now: East- Bulls 10-2 (A+), Heat 8-3 (A) , Knicks 6-4(B+) , Orlando 7-3 (B), Atlanta 7-4 (B), 76er's 7-3 (B), Indiana 7-3 (B) West- Oklahoma City 10-2 (A+), Lakers 8-4 (A), Utah 6-4 (B+), Portland 7-3 (B+), Spurs 7-4 (B+), Denver 7-4 (B), Clippers 5-3 (B)

jordan's block in with 13 seconds left was a Goal tend and ref didnt call it !
then Heat fouled 3 times to stop the time but ref didnt call any and that lead to a dunk on the other end for the clippers !
i have never seen Couch Spo THIS MAD ! ( that he got ejected)
again i say the ref job sucked and killed the game ! NOT COOL !

I didnt watch the end. We left at half time. My roommate isnt as into sports as I am, so when we go to Outback, Hooters, or whatever to watch a game I can usually only get him to stay for half of it.
I dont care if the ref blocked the Heats final shot attempt cause them to lose. Any way they lose puts a smile on my face and makes me feel better about the Cavs being 4-5

I think the Cavs will be a solid team within the next few years. I've got Tristan Thompson on my fantasy roster. He's only averaging like 15 or so minutes per game, but he blocks a ton of shots. He's gonna be a beast.

I keep it realistic though, even the fact that we just finished up a 7 game road trip and have a record of 6-6 (7th overall in the East) is a miracle alone. Byron Scott just needs to keep coaching the kids up and hope we can get a big man in the draft/ FA to pair up with Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson.
Kyrie Irving has a lock on Rookie of the Year unless he gets hurt. Kid has been tearing it up

Latest rumors have said Dwight Howard has added the Clippers as a possible trade destination for him. I am not sure what the Clips would have to deal in return but it would be pretty baller to see cp3, dwight, and blake griffin together. be the founding of a new powerhouse

the NBA fuckin sucks
i hate how on ESPN hockey has been going on all season and they rarely show hockey games
then the day the NBA comes back they put every single game on sportscenter, even the shitty ones no one gives a flying fuck about
even on espn boston, they are still showing the celtics who are sucking over the bruins who are the best team in the NHL and clearly the fan favorite anyways
in boston, we will take a great hockey team over a great BBall team 10 out of 10 times
fuck the NBA

Ammmm with all due respect to NHL and hockey all around the world ... but did u know that Bball is the 2nd biggest sport in the world ? (after Soccer)
So im sorry that u feel like that about NBA but hockey not having a bigger fan base doesnt mean u should hate the beautiful sport

Yo, bruh. Reason for this is -- ESPN doesn't have a contract with the NHL any longer. Thus they can't air games. In fact they haven't been able to do this for years.
Versus took over the contract (which I believe is now referred to as the NBC 24 hour sports channel).

It's gonna be interesting to see what Eddy Curry can do for the Heat. He's a mess, but has reportedly gotten his act together and lost 100 pounds. In his prime he was a 20/10 guy. I'm not expecting that much from him at age 30 but even if he can get you 15/5 and be a presence in the paint, that's huge for the Heat.

Just throwing it out there, even though the Heat beat them last night, my Sixers are looking good, and without a single superstar. I'm not saying they will win the Championship or anything, but forst in the Atlantic and actually competing with such a young, starless team is awesome.

If They believe they will work wonders ! Coz that 76ers team is balling !
Losing to us ( heat ) is NOT a big deal ... since you are on the EAST u need to make sure you dont lose from any team in a 7 game Series and ull do fine !
Best of luck to your 76ers bud.

Look out for the nuggets! They lost last night to the Clippers which is disappointing but they are definitely the deepest team in te league. Marc Stein has them ranked tops in the West and try have the third best record in the league since trading Melo, behind OKC and Chicago.

Well, I bet 20 bucks on the Heat beating the Bucks tonight, in Milwaukee. It's a 6 1/2 point spread though, slightly nervous since Milwaukee is decent this year. Miami's looking real tough though with D-Wade back.
fingers crossed.

I met Jeff about 2 years ago while working in the kitchen at a jewish synagogue in the ritzy Rice University area part of Houston.
I fucking walked right by him and knew it had to be him, When i finished in the kitchen he was by the front door.
I asked him if anybody had ever told him he looked exactually like Jeff Van Gundy We shook hands and i told him i was a big fan, he is a tiny dude but he looked good.
I also met Don Chaney out in the parking lot at the summit years ago but hes an asshole

They still suffer from not closing out games. I'm not sayingthey aren't good. Theyre just not a cut above the rest of the league like everyone thought coming into the year

Your guys' argument is irrelevant, since neither of those teams will beat the bulls (who btw nearly just beat the Heat IN Miami, WITHOUT Deng).
Then again my opinion on The Heat is pretty biased now since they lost me 20 bucks.

Doug Collins for Coach of the Year, man is doing magic. There goes Kobe and the Lakers! LOU-FUCKING-WILL! PUTTING THE TEAM ON HIS BACK!
Kobe and the Lakers were on campus today too BTW. They are all getting to use the new NBA-style gym that was built, I've never even been inside the building hahaha. Pretty cool though, maybe during the playoffs I'll try to snap some pictures for you guys of whoever is playing in Philly (if they end up using the gym here that it)

won all three of my bets today, on the celtics, warriors, and jazz
still 0-2 this season betting on your Heatles though. They've pissed me off so hard that I nearly picked Atlanta against them today...of course they won by like 30. They only seem to suck whenever I happen to bet on them

So after the Knicks lost that game, ESPN ran this headline:
"Chink In The Armor".
Dude. That is blatantly foul. Chink to Asians is no different that nigger to black folks. I feel awful for this dude, Lin.
Guy does nothing but play good basketball, and he's got sports columnists tweeting small dick jokes about him and the biggest sports media corporation on earth straight up calling him a chink.

Feel bad for him? He's probably the most talked about man in sports in right now. If anything this just shows ESPN is terribly racist as most SportSCenter junkies already knew.

Well it's owned by Disney, what did you expect? Either way, it's really funny to hear ESPN step in yet another pile of racism. The black dude from Baseball Tonight backa in the day sued them for racist business practices. All the black dudes on ESPN are token as fuck too, as if someone told them to just "sit there and sound black."

Yeah that's an issue with him. Especially when they trap him off the pick.
But I think he's also been playing rediculous amounts of minutes. He seems to play 40+ minutes per game.

Yeah, I do. Funny thing is, he probably doesn't even really care. But yes, I feel bad for a dude who just goes out and performs his job well and then as a result, gets mocked because of his race.
One of the NY papers had a picture of him coming out of a fortune cookie and the headline ran "Knick's Good Fortune". Then ESPN calls him a chink. Shit is fucked up. If this happened to a black dude the entire country would be in a furor right now.
It's basketball. It should be about BASKETBALL. Why do people feel the need to take shots at his race for?

Like a lot of folks, I'm skeptical towards the return of Melo. The dude is selfish as fuck, he needs his 20+ looks per game, that's just the way he is. Hard to see this current NY chemistry stay intact if Melo isn't able to significantly limit his own FG attempts. I know he says that he can play with anyone and blah blah blah, but I'll believe it when I see it.

He torched Lin tonight. Dropped 38 on him. Lin still with a good game, though. Nearly a triple-double.

to be honest ... Lin is a good player and all .... but he is still not ready .. i mean yeah he makes good plays and he gets good baskets too, but he makes so many mistakes and gives so many turn overs. i know every player makes turn overs but he does some that are out of lack of experience. he will do GREAT in a year or two.

I believe he had more steals than TOs in that game. And I'm not sure that he was guarding Williams, either. If he was that was a D'Antoni mistake.

Yeah I don't know if he was guarding Williams for most of the game. Just read the recap.
They wrote it as if Lin got torched, but a lot of times these write ups are inaccurate.

Yeah they got eaten alive.
The Heat are just rediculously good right now. So much speed all over the court.
Watching Lebron now compared to last year and even in Cleveland, you can see he's not as burdened, he's got alot more support, more free to roam.
Their supporting cast got alot better too.

I agree.
EVERY player in heat is a major thread to the opponent team's Defense now. it was not like this last year. last year the big 3 would score 85%-90% of the points and call it a day. that is how Dallas Mavs figured us out in the finals.
but now (last game for and example) the big 3 scored 67 of the 102 points . thats around 60% of the points which it balances out as TEAM WORK ! something we lacked last year.

I'm actually surprised how high the expectations have gotten for Lin to be able to take on the Heat.
I mean the Knicks were one of the worst teams in the league with all other stars healthy. How do they expect to stand up to the likes of Lebron, Wade, and Bosh?
The hype behind Lin is obviously enormous. But to step back and take it into perspective, he's still just a rookie-ish point gaurd on a disasterous team. Trying to take on the hottest team in the league with three all star starters.

Thats exactly why there is no hype behind Heat (compare to last year) and they are finally able to play ball and not be Hollywood style celebs with paparazzi all around em. let them fool focus !
i hope this hype behind lin goes away soon too ... believe me it will work for the better of Lin and new york. The kid steps in worried thinking : oh man am i gonna be playing like im expected today ? thats alot aof stress man. its crazy

I am loving the play of Kyrie Irving as a rookie. He is a lot like CP3. It's a young team and only 1 1/2 games back of a playoff spot.
I hope LeBron loses again this year, and the next. The Cavaliers continue to build up, then he comes back to the C's and we win a couple.
I am really diggin the Knicks as well

i want to see the cavs build up without lebron !
you guys can ... you guys should ...
Lebron will be in miami heat for 4 more seasons. Then he has an option of either going or staying. Lebron was born in 1984 ( 28 years old ) so 28+4 =32 and age 32 is the downhill of ANYONE's career. u might still be fucking good ... but ur not the same mid 20's of age player. so FORGET HIM ! build up a new team. u guys will do fine.

If YOU had to chose the MVP ... who would it be ?
Id go for L.James (although durant deserved it too) ...
Not only he was tide with Durant in scores but he had 7 Assists and 6 rebounds.

My Cavs are still holding it together, playing solid for having 2 rookies leading the way. Kyrie Irving has been brilliant.
Bulls have looked impressive too

I am a Cavaliers fan. That's my team. Considering they just lost LeBron and they are not at the bottom of the East is impressive to me. They dont really have much of a team left and are in complete rebuilding mode. Kyrie Irving is the Rookie of the Year and Tristan Thompson has looked promising. Another good draft pick would be nice. A Center away from a playoff run.
The Bulls were supposed to be good. They have lived up to expectations.
edit- I just checked and I guess they are only 7 teams away from last place. I wouldnt mind seeing them sneak back into the nba lottery, a solid class coming out of college. Somehow land Jared Sullinger

He's pretty durable, idk.
he is only out the weekend due to a death in the family.
believe me, I am routing for any scenario in which the Heat fail. I just dont know if I see a team that can beat them, maybe Chicago?
it'd be legit if Chicago pulled a trade to get Dwight Howard to play with Rose. Chicago definitely has the pieces to get it done.

A: The Bulls aren't going to trade half the team for two months of Dwight Howard.
B: The Powers-That-Be at ADIDAS are not going to let Howard and Rose, their two biggest stars, play in the same city. Both players make more from ADIDAS than from their teams.
C: Howard isn't even the type of guy I would want to mortgage the farm for. Have you seen the others centers in the league? They are, without fail, awful. Howard should have thirty points every single game. He just doesn't care enough to get the most from his talents.

That's cool you enjoyed the game and Wilt is in the top 5 of all time (#2 imo) but fuck that 100 point game. That particular stat doesn't mean shit to me. The Big O AVERAGING a triple double for an entire season, now there's a fucking stat.

The Celtics trading him makes about as much sense as Chicago trading Rose.
