California Finds: Winter '11-12 (Update 2-26-12) 1

I usually make separate posts of different locations, but I decided I'd keep all my finds this season in one thread. Feel free to contribute any pictures, I love to learn which mushrooms are growing in different areas of the state.
This first hunt was in the San Joaquin Valley, predominantly Oak forest next to a river.

Fantastic shots, Ran-D!
Riverdweller: I'd never heard of those, or seen them, until this thread. But I can't help thing how some things are just named...well...appropriately. My first thought upon seeing them was how CRAZY looking they are. Schizophyllum...I like it.

These woods were about 90% Oak so I'm assuming that's what it was, honestly don't remember looking though I was staring at the ground the whole time. Definitely deciduous hardwood though.
You're definitely right about the annihilating part. I love mushrooms A LOT A LOT, but I honestly am not too happy when I find Honey mushrooms. I wish I had some Cauliflower mushroom culture to spread out there to counteract the Honeys.

Couple more central valley finds, Eucalyptus wood chips this time:

And the leftovers in a very dry and frozen Yosemite:

Beautiful, but definitely not how Yosemite should look in January...

Much more to come from a trip to the mountains north of SF yesterday, but I can only upload 3 pics at a time so it's a working progress..

No rain? No problem.
Saw a few logs covered in Turkey Tail just like this one..

 Hericium

These were all found in the Point Reyes area, in a mix of redwoods/deciduous trees. Really only got to spend about an hour mushroom hunting, spent the rest of the day at the beach.

IDs welcome, I'm not 100% on all of these yet.

Found some fun fungi today. My pics aren't of spectacular quality, just was using my point and shoot. Will add them soon though! Nothing to exotic but a nice time out for sure!

Hey I didn't even know the genus so you're ahead of me, I really need to spend more time studying and not just hunting...

That's cool that you're finding anything in this dry ass weather, I had to drive 2 hours for mine. All I have is a cheap point & shoot as well, and I'm still learning how to use it. And my hands are terribly shaky which doesn't help. Luckily I found a tripod at the dollar store.
Lets see those finds
