Hey everyone,It's been around 6month's since I bought/plant my first cacti seeds(san pedro),they grow fine for a month or two but then they stoped growing and they are still about an inch long as they wore before...is this normal?
Other info: -Room temp.(23-28*C) -watering almost every 3days or when nessesary. -I've been keeping them under natural light(sunlight),in direct sunlight every cuple of days for about 15-20min.
help please!

Please post pictures of the seedlings and your set up. If they're truly the same size that they were a few months ago without any additional areoles then you're doing something wrong. Hard to make a diagnosis with only the information you provided.

You said you keep them in natural light - does that mean a window sill? They look pretty skinny and I wonder if they get enough light. It's also possible that at some point they'd stalled out because of lack of water or being forced to acclimate suddenly.

My bet is on insufficient light and yes it looks like windowsill light maybe even intermittent windowsill light by the sounds of the first post. They should be much fatter at that age/height; it looks like they are etiolating.
Increase light gradually and start fertilizing with a fairly dilute solution every other watering and they should start to take off.

They can take full sun anywhere as long as they are acclimatized. Putting seedlings like that into full sun right now would kill them in as little as a few hours.
I've used pieces of old white cloth to cover tips of newly rooted clones or pots of seedlings when putting them outside. After a week or two I remove the first layer and after another week or two I remove the second layer. It works pretty well. I don't think I've had anything burn with that method.

i believe you just need sunlight
and as said above be sure to acclimate to full sun to prevent killing it, like a vampire stepping out into daylight

Not true. Some of my cactus are 10 years old and can take full Las Vegas summer sun, but only for a few hours or they will sunburn badly.

Many growers seem unaware that native species grow on hillsides and ravines and not flat desert, so they are in shade much of the day.

All of my trich's get a minimum of 6 hours full sun every day if they are acclimatised they never get burnt. They need daily water and fortnightly fertiliser through the hottest days in summer with out the fert's they will yellow a bit

Water supply is definitely a key factor in sun tolerance....and sun exposure is a key factor in water requirement. I think itis always important that we keep in mind the importance of these factors in relation to each other and not just in relation to the species we are growing.

Yes.
It needs a bigger pot and more sunlight to thicken up.
EDIT: and the thing with the golden spines next to it may be a T. spachianus.
Double Edit: And the one in the right foreground may be Trichocereus terschekii. Neat find.

hi, in my experience (not much)
Quote:
deniks said: -Room temp.(23-28*C)
Temp. should not get below 25* C.
Quote:
deniks said: -watering almost every 3days or when nessesary.
I would water only when the substrate gets dry
Quote:
deniks said: -I've been keeping them under natural light(sunlight),in direct sunlight every couple of days for about 15-20min.
you should leave then on direct sun light for more time and every day, in the early and latter hours of the day. Of course, increasing the exposure gradually
happy growing !
