Midwest grow kits
    #15413270 - 11/23/11 04:18 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

http://www.midwestgrowkits.com/grow-kits.html

Pretty overwhelming for the tiny prices, and free shipping.

When I grow shrooms I'm definitely going to order from here.

So, has anybody ordered from them before?

And whats the best place for syringes or spore prints?

Cool.
I was also wondering if anybody here has had experience with
Avalon? http://www.avalonmagicplants.com/

Also a shroomery-supported site, but they basically say they don't ship ANYWHERE, no US, no UK, no Australia

Ralphster advertises this so it is probably a very good product.

As for spores Ralphster is my favorite vendor.

AKA Rubbermaid tub...

Order a spore syringe and buy the grow materials yourself.  Start-up will cost less than $50 AND afterward you'll have the knowledge and experience to be self-sufficient for a lifetime.

Do a Shroomery search for "PF Tek" and/or "BRF Tek".

I have been a log time buyer of spores from Ralphster and been making my own grow setups on my own, no need of a kit. I have been out of the hobby for awhile and decided to start again but have so little time and a wife and kids around..

I think Midwest grow Kits Mega kit is a little over-doing it with all the stuff, but the setup is very similar to what ive done myself in the past, (minus the humidifier) and prices are definetlty fair!

I ended up ordering some jars and spawn bags from them and im about 20 days in and Im really close to 100% colonized, so I will vouch for their substrate! good stuff!

Yes, I will say, if you have the time and a Pressure cooker, make your own jars and kit.. Its easy, just read up on stuff here

I agree anything ralphster suggests has to be pretty legit. Plus their prices are really not that bad considering you are paying them to do all the work for you, which for me is what I needed. My wife certainly does not want that smell of cooking jars in our house lol.

cheers!

Three year old thread. Read up in mushroom cultivation forum and do it all yourself. Check out http://www.shroomery.org/sponsors.php for ordering any supplies that you cannot find at the store.

Canada is iffy but some of our canadian posters who grow can point you on the right path. Spores are about the only thing you might even have trouble with but everything else can be found at the grocery and hardware store. Good luck on your grow. :manofapproval:

Don't get a kit.

I've never had one and I always had less than a 5% fail rate.  Was usually closer to 0 unless I was lazy and didn't use a SAB or I got contaminated spores.

Those kits are a waste of money, just buy all your shit local.  You can get almost everything at Home Depot and Target.  The spores you obviously need to get online unless you can get prints/fresh mushrooms local.  There are several hundred guides on here that tell you exactly what you need to do, I'd suggest reading up on this for several weeks before you jump in to it so you don't screw up your first grow.  Its not hard, but you really need to do it by the book your first few grows to figure out what you are doing IMO.  Read peoples grow logs, read the guides, read the contaminant forum.  Just get a feel for what you are about to do and it will make the process a lot easier.  I read the forums for several months before I tried by first grow and I've always had very successful grows ever since.

:whathesaid: I did just the opposite and my first grows were very good it's all in how you interperate the information.
