Psilocybe bohemica season! 1
#15407607 - 11/22/11 10:32 AM (6 months, 3 days ago) |

Psilocybe serbica var. bohemica = Psilocybe bohemica
beware, Galerina species is likely to grow in the same habitats, even the same substrates. be very careful with picking active woodeating Psilocybe.
Despite the overall lack of rain, they came in time!
most are pristine unharmed specimens, most are young

Believe me these can be hidden very well.
Found in southern greece, at 900 m. altitude, in fir and oak, mostly oak forest.
Cheers, keep the vibes flowing...

hey wiscokid cheers
That's the 3rd year [nov-dec] I visit the spot when this shroom is fruiting. This one was the first one I saw [and picked] so many babies.
babies are super potent mofos!
I hope to create a 'domesticated' outside patch in some spot closer to where I live. Growing stuff indoors doesn't turn me on much . Now outside, that's another thing. Would love to!
for habitat photos check this
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/11589768/fpart/3/vc/1
and this
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/13611412#13611412
some prints, every year, go to a couple chosen people around the globe anyway.
If people want a print, they should make a trade offer via pm [note I am not into muchroom cultivation, but, I can accept prints [actives or some rare edible] or spawn plugs, as trades, I only not prefer them]
I prefer a cactus or cactus seed, I am after the fatty trichocereus species like pasacana, chilensis, wendemanianus, terscheckii etc , also ariocarpus seed, but any seed is good
useful plant seeds of any kind are welcomed too
or, someone might wanna try to convince me why I should send to him and all. I have made just 7-8 of them, most were immature. I will make some more in the following days after I visit the spot again and then will announce the give away and how many prints are available.

Now this is an exciting post !! Man have i wanted to see these for a loooong time!!
they are just asolutely gorgeus specimens too!
if you want to grow them outside, cut off those stem butts that still have mycelium attached and mix them with soaked hardwood chips or wrap them in soaked currogated cardboard. then keep adding chips until the spring and then plant the spawn outside in your yard with some more woodchips and next year you should have fruits! all it takes is one year.
i whole heartedly agree with everyone as well!

Fantastic!!!! Would also love some prints to spread those here in Estonia. Beautiful mushrooms.

RIP Matt, your friendship and your contributions to the world of fungi will be missed. Unfortunately we never got to hunt together.

mutant said:So, supposing one put another wild culture [another species too] in his woodlover spawn container. What would happen? I suppose the mycs in competition would fight. Would one of them kill the other, or rather the 'looser' of the battle, the less strong and/or extended myc would become dormant or something?
I think it'd be more of a race for each species to colonise as much of the available substrate as possible. The more vigorous myc wins more territory, rather than outright war. When the myc of the competitors come in direct contact with each other they stop growing in that direction, and set up a sort sort of a 'no mans land', rather than expend energy in an all out fight. Mycelium spreads out in all directions until it comes up against natural barriers such as myc of other species, runs out of available substrate or autumn arrives. When both species have obtained all they can of the available substrate they consolidate what they have and wait for fruiting conditions to arrive. This would explain why you can find Galerina's fruiting in or around cyan's/Bohemica's etc.
It would be interesting to put both or all three of the above on agar to watch what happens, surely lots of people have done such experiments and have the pictures. The only "fight" i've seen on petri's was between cyan myc and trichoderma. The cyan won
