Cali Chanterelles and more (Update 11-15-11)
#15331117 - 11/06/11 12:07 PM (6 months, 19 days ago) |
|
|
Took a trip to the mountains near Santa Cruz..

And last but certainly not least, my dinner Was walking down the trail telling my girlfriend that we were in the perfect habitat/weather for Chanterelles, and that I was due to find them since I never had before. She thought I was jinxing myself, but sure enough about a quarter mile later..

Good Karma!

Forgot the habitat shots...

The Chanterelles were all found growing under Manzanitas.

beautiful pictures. I have lived in Oregon for almost all my life and I have never been to California. There are some many pretty thing to see that I think it is about time that I travel south.

I've never been to Oregon, and I was only like 2 hours away when I lived in Nor Cal. Lets trade places for a month

I would love to get out more but fuel cost being what they are it's not always easy.

you should move out of oregon, or take a long trip
nothing puts things more in perspective than discovering what your comfort zone and true values really are
imo
Ran-d also, you two should take a freakishly long fear and loathing style trip to sri lanka, or congo, together
imo

Thanks I wasn't sure what that was . The coloring on the stem was much more vivid in person.

Really? I was thinking Pluteus for these.. I guess the pics don't show it, but they were growing from a dead log.

I don't know what the hell happened on this trip, I must have been rushing my photos because most of them didn't turn out as good as I expected, but I might as well post the rest
   This Turkey Tail was beautiful

Ahhhhh Hericium..

And could it be?!

Lions Mane! (Hericium erinaceus) I've found plenty of Hericium in my time, but never a Lions Mane. I've always wanted this one more than any other Hericium, so needless to say I was fucking stoked.
Found some really fresh/bug free Oysters as well, tried them for dinner for the first time. They get for sure.

That's exactly how I feel about 99% of my photos I often try to convince myself it's because of my sh*tty camera, but I'm sure I would suffer the same problems with a camera 5 times as expensive

Yea I want to buy an expensive camera but I'm afraid I'll still suck at using it, I would definitely need a tripod because my hands are shaky as hell.
