Yosemite Mycoporn (Update 10-26-11)
    #15269200 - 10/24/11 12:27 AM (7 months, 2 days ago)

LOADS of fungus in the Sierras right now, I couldn't even begin to photograph them all. Too many pictures to go through, I will slowly be adding more to this thread. Enjoy.

Great success! :borat:

I think it is. Spring is cool too because of the Morels, but I couldn't even walk off trail the other day without stepping on mushrooms, so I'd say October is the month. It hasn't even rained around here either, just the temperature drop brought them all out.

ah it's gonna be a few weeks probably for the Bay Area..We've been getting that dry east wind again/late summer heatwaves

However the Sierra is different, lots of tree shade and cooler...The summer crowds are gone, and it hasn't snowed yet except for the highest elevations

I'd say this is prime time during the next 3 weeks or so for the Sierra, before the Bay Area season gets going. Might be looking for a partner with a car to go in for at least 1 day trip

One could do a day trip from the bay area...a very full day tho, lots of driving --- leave early AM takes 4 hours or so to get up in the hills

Amazing finds, dude! Don't think I've even seen some of those before. Are those black-capped ones Russula?

I don't really know what those are.. At first I thought Lactarius lignyotus, but I don't think that's right.

Anyone else know?

Vegas has to be the worst place in the world to get married.

Just my opinion.  Some people like it.

Its an unusually good year for fungi in the sierras right now.  Some years not much comes up.  It did rain pretty good a few days ago.

As a novice, I ask for ID help appropriately so I expect the same from others. Any noob wanting to identify mushrooms should fill out the ID form and provide clear photographs. Knowledge is a privilege and deserves respect. Let's give due props to the experts!
