What? I went out a few days ago and didn't find anything in spots where cyans grow. Not only didn't I find cyans, I didn't find hardly and fungi at all. It is dry, dry, dry out there.
Good job finding those!

Head north, its good in salt point, mendocino county and del norte county. Southern Oregon is also good. Northern Oregon is not so good, its winter there.

Obviously this year has been a bit dry, not much to find out there. But, I am happy about one little guy that sprung up...Last year I took some mycelium from outside, p.cy...I put it in a tupperware bowl, added some water and mulch. Every once in a while I would shake the cotainer to promote colonization. Recently I took a look in the many bowls I had stashed around my house and realized that they had actually fruited! Unfortunately I got to them too late and they had decomposed considerably. But then they started to pin again. I noticed this time and was sure to open the lid and promote some oxygen and co2 exchnage. There is a solo fruit that is still growing! I am very proud and excited. Being in the confined area has altered its growth pattern. Check it out!!!

I've been continually on the hunt and have yet to find much in north bay Though this recent stint of rain still has me hopeful.

Hey Alan, I made a mental note about the macroscopic features of this puffball like the peeling skin... I should be able to ID this mushroom in the future thanks to you

Dubwobble, you are probably the only guy that finds actives while actually on the clock. Very cool!

our main problem is (aside from it being late season) is we're still getting the dry east wind in SF as of two days ago. i can tell because the flags blow west and I get static electricity shocked a lot..lol
anyway, it's not just a good series of rain we need, but that it stays humid for awhile, like a month
a few random patches of 3 or 4 isn't really enough for me to go out looking all day, but it is a good sign it's not completely over yet
I think there's still a chance to have maybe some patches with 10 fruits or more, enough to make me go looking again
as long as it stays the way it is now, with air flow coming from the pacific...hopeful it won't reverse again for awhile
cyans are a little different than most edibles in the forest because the edibles usually have a much thicker layer of duff to hold in moisture and come from deeper down
cyans and chip fungi usually have a fairly thin substrate and are much more sensitive to these air flow changes

Thanks, but haven't found any Cyans or Friscosas in months.
I am hoping with these rains and temps that I may actually start finding some

saw this today in the city. These are mostly fall fruiters so a bit late for these chip fungi
I doubt anything major will happen but maybe some random scattered small patches
