I think they are prob just bad pics, well i mean not horrible, but they look off because well they are cyanofriscosa and they are prob kinda dusty making the caps look even more like off. would be nice to see some better pics of those those. like a side and underside pic.

These things are tiny, the smallest of them were well under a millimeter across and the largest were probably just bigger than a pencil lead. It's going to be a while before I can provide underside pics of the caps.
I could have picked one to see if it blued, but I didn't wanna harm a baby like that for no reason.

first 5 photos only are p cyanescens. All the other species, including the banana slug are non edible decorations

A few from today, there was a nice flush of chanterelles although a lot are more dirty than I prefer.
Russula eccentrica, a good indicator species for chanterelle, as some of these photos illustrate:
  
Cantharellus californicus. A few were rotting when I found them. They were definitely starting to fruit before the rains, but the rain helped a lot. Hopefully it's a good sign of things to come...
 
Agaricus fusco-fibrillosus, almost hidden under some loose, dry dirt in a shed.

2nd year for this patch and starting out strong. Landscaping is still nice and thick.

Wow, those ovoids are coming up gangbusters.
Were they an early bloomer last year? For some reason, I had them in my mind as a spring mushroom.

you know what?....I gave Alan some samples of these and Ovoids are the closest thing related. They might be a new species, and related to the southern California finds. This particular type fruits in fall as opposed to the more conical type which fruits in Spring (at least here)

This is a different type than a previous 'ovoideocystidiata in SF, that hasn't fruited in 2 year years now and might have dried up

However this conical type has succesfully been transplanted to Europe via spores and that patch still survives and is alaso fruiting in fall (where the original in SF fruited mostly in Spring a and a little in fall)

what we know so far is that both types found in San Francisco are either ovoids outright or very closely related, putting them both in section Stuntzae
this new type found today in SF could eventually be a new species, but it's still rare enough that we don't have a good cross section and samples yet. Alan has samples from both types found in SF already. Both types have a unique flowery smell and both have a slight greenish/olive tint. And both are equally potent, up there with cyans

Holy cow, Auwela & Lanlord are killing it this early in the season. I went out looking today and found very few mushrooms at all and nothing active.

I'd really like to see a concerted study of the various bay area Psilocybes.
I really think we could expand the list of species known from California.
