Nice finds. I have a feeling your immediate area will be better in a year or 2.
I agree auweia about habitat shots but just cuz they look way cooler.
lol maybe we should follow our own advice but social recognition is a very common human disorder.
Its all good

hell yeah wild habitat shots look cooler than cultivation shots

that's why we come around once a year and piss the cultivators off

lol

go back a page and you'll see that's exactly what happened today

seriously tho...the main point here is that you can cultivate all you want...Nobody has any problem with it here

Just don't mistake it for the wild, because THAT (the wild and true hunting) will far out do any cultivation techniques in your lifetime

the species can hitch a ride on you and others without your knowledge and spread itself far better by itself than any human intentional technique

people claim to spread it.....it's all a lie...a lie I tell you!...LOL

IT...the species, spreads itself....YOU, are just another means to do so...haha

who's zooming who?...hehe

with cultivation, you are restricted to what you cultivate.......With hunting, you are restricted to nothing

because that's where they like to be..out there in the wild

I had some good luck in the east bay today   I am new enough to successfully finding actives that I still get excited when I find significant new spots, and I think I found a couple that will fit the bill for that today - although a lot of stuff is still 90% pins.

I also ran in to another hunter for the first time today.  I'm not sure he'll be reading this, but nice to meet you, and sorry for running in to you twice.  I promise I wasn't following you or anything, I just had been intending to do grids in that quadrant of town today.  Also, if you do happen to read this: any idea why those mushrooms from the second patch are so fucking white?  They're strongly bluing so they're certainly active, but I don't even see a trace of the caramel colouration I usually associate with cyans/fricosas in them.  (Although I don't have too much hands on experience with friscosas.)

er. sometimes you can get somewhat pygmy white friscosas. There will still be bluing tho. It's probably because of the substrate or it could be just a certain strain.

Try to get some photos....we can tell better that way...here's an example of friscosa from yesterday, altho I've seen them whiter than that

IMO, Galerina marginata look more similar to psilocybe cyanofriscosa than any other psilocybe. Be careful fellas, I love the pictures. Have human played a part in the massive fruiting that happen in the bay area?

All those in the first group of images are cyanofriscosa, if I'm not mistaken.

I am just getting a chance to download my pics.  Here is a nice Amanita Muscaria that I found last week.  Amazingly, I saw it from about 50 yards away while riding my bike.  That red color really catches the eyes.

By the way, I did take it home and ate it that night.  It was my first time eating a. muscaria.  I simply pan fried it with some butter and ate it.  But it didn't go well, as about 90 minutes later I completely yakked it up. The high was like the worst part of being drunk - spinny & nauseous.  I got say that I probably won't try that method again!

Id like to like to say one thing about cultivating, the mushrooms I grow are always more colorful, thicker, meatier, just more wholesome looking, and more potent (IMO) than anything Ive found in the wild so far.  I guess its because I can control everything.Theres a striking difference in the way they look and feel after drying its amazing. Id post these in the culti forum they dont seem to care about woodlovers.

I didnt think this thing would fruit till next year it was a mid summer transplant dug 2 patches up  in the end of june and made a new one. less than 5 months grow time.

my first patch ever! here are some habitat shots. I picked all the bigger ones so there are nothing but pins left in this patch. How long should they take to fully mature? I live in the 925 and it hasn't rained in a while but I go by once a day and dump water on them. Also if I pick them but leave the base of the stalks and mycelium intact will they regrow and how often?

I do agree with the Fact that Most of the Cultivation Forum does not Care about the woodlovers, which I find a bit strange since there are so many Woodlover Hunters on here. I personally love to find new patches either Via Wild,or Via Cultivated. The Habitat is so wide here is some Cyans Growing On a slope below some pines on the edge of a small Forest.

The poor backyard wood chip cultivators, shunned by other cultivators, discriminated by hunters, they are wandering stateless gypsies, relegated to online ghettos.....hehe

I don't think it's really a bad thing to post cultivated patches here, so long as it's not confused with wild patches in public that people can find on their own. Psili did point out that cultivated patches that are cared for and sheltered are often a little too perfect compared to those in the wild

That's kind of the point with hunting. You rarely see perfect specimens anywhere in the wild, of any species

Mother nature just doesn't turn on the faucet at regular intervals around here, you know?. Although sometimes you can get borderline patches in parks and landscaping

usually tho, you can get a much wider range of shapes and sizes and colors in the wild, partly because of the changing weather
