Being a pilot is a lifestyle and it is damned expensive.
For two years of flight school, I racked up $20k in student loans and poured another $20k of my own money into it.
There is NOTHING like flying an aircraft though.

20k or 40k is a lot of money, i didn't think flight lessons would be so much. I was interested in trying one day but damn that is a lot of money. maybe ill go for a helicopter school, might be cheaper.

Whats a security "marshall" entail? There's security detail at the multinational I work for, but they sit in chairs bored as fuck checkin badges all day --- and go open locked office doors for wenches who forgot their keys
"Hello? This is the second time i've had to call. Nobody has come to let me in yet. I don't know why this office was locked to begin with." =actual conversation i overheard from my desk this morning

Couldn't you always join the air force and get your experience that way? I heard that's what a lot of retired air force guys end up doing... flying commercial airlines.
