So I contacted the Santo Daime church in Ashland, Oregon

I basically shared my story and asked for some information through email, and got this as a reply:
"Hello ________
We received your inquiry about attending our church here in Ashland.
I have attached a newcomers packet for you to review. All newcomers to our church must have an interview before attending our works. Included is an application, medical waiver and liability form which you can return to us via email, mail or bring to your interview. Our mailing address is: CHLQ PB Box 911Ashland, OR 97520
There is a book called The Forest of Visions written by Alex Polari which we highly recommend reading.
It is the only book on the Santo Daime.
We have about 25 -35 participants in our works. Our teaching come from the hymns that we sing
which are "received' or channeled directly from the spiritual realms.
It sounds like you have many questions. It may be best to call me. My number is (edited)
Chante Dao Church Administrator"
Hmm, so I'm going to go a bit deeper into this. I ordered the Forest of Visions book he recommended, and will finish reading that before I call and ask questions. The newcomer packet looks like it is pretty in depth as well, but I haven't yet had the chance to go over it thoroughly.
If the book and information I get continues to vibe with me, I may attend an ayahuasca ceremony with them this fall. I am facing some debilitating problems in my life right now, loss of vision + chronic back/neck pain, and feel as though I need some sort of reminder as to why I am here and why I should continue the fight. I feel like ayahuasca can help me to reconnect to the answers to some of these questions.

Or maybe from the harmala/dmt running through your system.
You should delete that guys phone number from the post unless it's on the website. Bad form dude.
Anyway why don't you just make it up yourself and have at it?

because i don't feel comfortable doing it myself. i have also read that it is important to have an experienced guide who can help you to make sense of the experience.
i did edit out that phone number, good point.

Just know that they have a religious affiliation with christanity.
I think it's a good idea however cause they don't push it down your throat.

That's okay, I'm down with Jesus
Just not most of the bible or the church itself
Well that's good to hear they don't force it down people's throats.. That's one of the things I need to determine beforehand; whether or not I think they will attempt to brainwash me or something while I am in an altered state. I hear their teachings are more down to Earth and realistic though, rather than focused mainly on the Christian doctrine. I think they would have to be especially if they themselves are taking ayahuasca on a regular basis.

I don't know about any churches but there's definitely something about ayahuasca and singing. I pretty much never sing, but on my first aya trip I just disappeared into a flow of absolute perfection, which also had a musical quality to it. What came out was a kind of humming. Don't really remember it so much myself as I was totally gone in the flow but more sober outsiders said that we, the trippers, had sung/hummed in perfect sync somehow. So I suppose aya and group singing must be awesome in itself (though the consciousness doesn't really mind the singing or how it sounds as it's completely gone with the cosmic wind at that point..

I've done a few works with a Santo Daime group a while ago, and it was very healing. I suggest you go in with an open mind and an open heart and let the medicine do what it will do, simply let go.
They never pushed anything at me, or tried to change my view. We simply sat down, drank the Daime throughout the day and sang the hymns, mostly in Portuguese. Insights came, and it was one of the most beautiful things I have experienced sitting around with 50 of my neighbors on a journey together.

Cool stuff man, sounds promising. Be sure to check back with us if you go through with it. These traditions usually have a pretty good bearing on these experiences and can act as a very helpful support structure when integrating them into your life.

So I talked to Chante Dao over the phone for a few minutes and she says that they are holding a ceremony there on Sunday, October 2nd. She says that I am welcome to come up for an interview, and then to attend, if I like and so long as everything checks out okay with my physical and mental health.
Hmm, going to read the book first.. but I'm pretty sure I'm going to go for it on that date
i will for sure bump this thread and keep you guys posted.

I've heard they have a group here in Portland, but I can't find them anywhere. If you can get the contact info for the Portland chapter, I'd really appreciate it.

Alright, so I'm definitely going through with this.. They have a special 2-day session happening on the weekend of September 30th to October 2nd, with a special guest Shaman flying in from Brazil to conduct it. On Friday from 6pm to 2am or so is a session focusing more on healing they said. And then on Sunday from 6pm to 4am or so is a more of a celebratory session with singing and dancing.
This is going to be an interesting weekend for sure lol. Unfortunately though I will have to ride my motorcycle up there since its all I have right now.. which is kind of a pain because Ashland is about 11 hours away from where I live.
But I'll probably stop off in San Fran for the night, get a good nights rest, and then make the rest of the journey Friday morning. And since money is tight, and also because I think it would be the best thing to do anyways, I will be camping out in a one-man tent the entire weekend
And I will do my best to be thorough and articulate when I report back on the experience

if the shaman is juan ruiz you should not take the ceremony at all... they are demons in the dress of angels and they want to mind control you and get your energy

Not that I care much but what do you base your accusations on besides some personal vendetta?

If someone tried to mind control me, and steal my energy, I would totally fuck them up. Most of these "Sorcerers" I meet couldn't take a punch if their life depended on it.
