thank you so our stomach acid destroys every cell from any type of fungus, mold, or seed? I don't know about you but sometimes I shit out whole corn kernels, maybe my digestive system is just screwy.
There's a big difference in shitting out corn kernels, opposed to viable spores.some of the food we eat doesn't get digested totally, and tht's what happens in that case.Or stomach acid is just too powerful for any kind of spore to survive, and come out the other end

Just us picking them and carrying them around spreads the spores, maybe that's advantage enough.

I'm pretty sure psilocybin must offer some sort of protection against bugs and other critters eating them, especially deer. I know almost everytime I've found weilii, I've either seen deer or smelled fresh deer piss, seen lots of "munched" mushrooms, but they never touch the weilii. Also, weilii seem to never have bugs unless really really decayed. Just an observation. Obviously us humans have found a mutually symbiotic relationship with psilocybin, cuz we love it and just by picking shrooms we help spread their spores on our clothes and stuff.

I believe i found my first active pluteus that i was aware of.Slight greenish hue on bottom of stem but what really stuck out was the smell. They smell just like ovoids, very strong farinaceous scent.

Salicinus?

Salicinus?
I give them a thumbs up. Nice find. How many did you get? 3 or 4 caps that size should put you in.

Salicinus?
It seems to fit the bill, but it lacks any obvious bruising. I would wait for confirmation from someone that's on point with these things to consume.
This thread is on freaking fire!! Keep it up guys. I'm so glad I managed to find some and make myself a part of it.

Factors indicating Pluteus salicinus: 1. Riparian habitat 2. found on wood or wood chips (white wood hardwoods) 3. Gills not attached (entoloma will be attached) white turning pinkish 4. cap silver/grey sometimes black when very young, becoming more greyish to brownish with a shimmery pixy dust surface. Fibers running radially toward margin. margin unlined. Umbo present, less at maturity. 5. Stems fibrous, yet brittle. Lines and fibers running up and down twisting sometimes. May or may not bruise blue/green. straight to slightly tapered towards cap. slight silverish cast. 6. Scent is farinaceous to very rank and fishy when over-mature. Taste is very mild surprisingly. Some had no flavor at all.

It could be worse, I haven't gone hunting since late May because rain is not even a possibility here from June-September.
