I never received the print to look at so I guess we'll never know.

Sorry guys! I have been away from this site for a while. I still have the prints and there are new ones popping up in the grass after the recent rains. When I saw some more in the lawn I realised I have unfinished business. thanks for your patience. Brewin

Well, here I am again. A year since my last visit. I still have the prints from last year that I never sent. Slack bastard I am. They have been preserved in a sealed jar after being fully dessicated. Still, THEY ARE BACK!! Guess it was not a fluke. I will post some new photos. Taken in the same location. If your microscope is up and running, maybe we can try again this year?

Exciting! I am positive someone would love to still give those a look under a scope. I'm excited to see some pics from this year - that spore print they left was majestically purple..

With these new images of some nicer specimens I can say for certain it is not Psilocybe subaeruginosa, the stipe is quite reminiscent of P. aucklandii, is there dung in that habitat?
There is some resemblance to the specimens in the link below which is a subtropical species fruiting from soil enriched with horse manure, it is very likely to be an undescribed species. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/13323519/fpart/1/vc/1

I suspect your find to be a rare or undescribed species belonging in either Section Zapotecorum or Sect. Cordisporae, the shape and size of the spores would be most helpful in determining which, maybe you could get TimmiT to take a look at the microscopic characters if he's interested.

Hello Inski That link was very interesting. There is not any manure where these grow. This is the link with my first description. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/13189794#13189794. Looking back now, I think I wrote the stem is 5cm wide, I meant long. They are quite small. Thanks for the thoughts on these strange little fellows

P. samuiensis actually sounds like a fairly good match to me... no?

Yes Oreganic, except they are growing in a residential lawn a few kilometres from any cow or horse manure. They do look very much the same though on a macroscopic level.

Thanks guys, I am glad others are willing to help solve this mystery. First though, I have this local person That may do the initial microscopy.

Well well
The local microscopy offer was never fulfilled. All the while these little buggers are still popping up even with the intense heat we have had up here. Here are some that were picked today.
