Dont mean to preach TMK really, but just discovered this 'new' vid and at about 40 mins into it it gets really good, though I recommend the entire vid if you have the time. Talks a lot about what 'we' as a subforum have been lately.

Also how do you know that it isn't purely objective and you are just a static mechanism within it just programmed to think you have a subjective opinion, but in objective reality you actually have about as much influence as a rock?
That's totally outside the bounds of falsifiability just like solipsism.
No matter what set of choices you have, you can only ever pick one. Given that, there is no observable difference between "free will" and pure block mode determinism.
Using Occam's razor, I'd pin it to free will. You have two options - a) deterministic action creates the illusion of free will complete with in-depth thinking about choices and b) it's real. It's much simpler to assume there isn't some kind of grand cosmic conspiracy/joke being played on you.
Now we don't have absolute free will but we don't have absolutely no free will either. Instead what we have is a finite set of possibilities we may choose in any given instant determined absolutely by the contents of your light cone. The set of possibilities itself evolves deterministically (e.g. you have hands and feet but no wings, so flying unassisted isn't happening though you may walk) but how which possibility is chosen ultimately remains to be figured out.
I go with "consciousness causes collapse" because what else could it really be? No matter what phenomenon causes choice, at the most fundamental level it's going to be "you" anyway, as you are existence itself. Whatever the true interpretation is, it's going to be something that links all the various interpretations of quantum mechanics together a la the elephant and the blind men.

2602 views hell we better be seeing some light soon.
Speaking of illumination, I noticed two blatant Illuminati "in your face" examples. One on Mad Money Cramer touting gold as a buy the day before it went down $100 an ounce. "Illuminate" your portfolio with gold how clever. The other on PBS with the word Illuminated. Now you could say gee Lunar that's a bit over the top but if you know how these folks work you will say gee Lunar perhaps you are the truly enlightened one. As are we let us work together in perfect harmony. Come and knock on my door, we've been waiting for you...

lol negation is as slippery a slope as assertion.
As Shakespeare adroitly put it: "To be or not to be?"
True masters seem to troll us from beyond even the grave...
As for 'true enlightenment' I'm not even sure whether such a state existed at what the physicists call t=0, even then I may have had a frame of reference problem, certainly can't tell from 'here' in this 'now'. Still trying to let this go...

hahaha so awesome. this thread. awesome. i only read the first 2 pages, but it's so funny to see icelander claim being enlightened. could it actually be true? the greatest sceptics of all? now finally enlightened? whaaat? what's going on here?
OK, I GUESS SOMEONE ELSE ASKED THIS BEFORE... BUT... JUST IN CASE NO ONE ASKED...
HAVE YOU OVERCOME YOUR DEATH ANXIETY?
great to hear your life just became so much better...
okok, the death anxiety question was more of a joke... let me ask a different question... did you believe that something like this was possible? were you in denial of a phenomenon like this? it always sounded like you were. and now it hit you like a motherfucking truck?
so cool to hear... you sound so different now, it's actually funny!!
