Panaeolus Cyanescens grow small and thin, why?
    #1466395 - 04/17/03 06:18 AM (20 years, 11 months ago)

The mushrooms grow small and thin.  :frown:
What can be a problem?
A substrate - horse dung with straw (1:1), covering - thin layer of ground.
Humidity in terrarium not high, majority of mushrooms have time bring up and to open cap. But spores do not make.

I filled my jars with Straw then added water and rye flour that were mixed together let soak 10 minutes then let drain excess water out..worked well for me...I havent had much time for this pastime but am itching to play with pans again...

Nice flush there Comario2 - must have been that h202 agar and the air exposure
Bluejay's advice is spot on - better cap development requires lots of good air exchange.

The nature of this strain is for them to be small and thin like that. Don't let this fool you, they will kick your ass. I would love to grow these myself as soon as I can get my hands on some prints.
