It's not cum - it's cervical mucus. Depending on when in her cycle she is depends on the thickness of it, dryness/wetness and how stretchy/slippery. Cervical mucus is also easily affected by the birth control pill and other medications. It's part of what the pill does - makes the mucus thicker in order to make it more difficult for sperm to penetrate. It's one of the many reasons I hated being on the pill - it's gross.

And last but not least - it can be a sign of a yeast infection if it's accompanied by other symptoms.

Yeast infection consistency is different, like cottage cheese, and the smell is quite distinctive if you have ever grown mushrooms and have had it get contammed by yeast or bacteria. When I have had yeast infections, it reminded me of that. I only got them on birth control which is one of the contributing reasons to me quitting it.
Sometimes, especially when I'm closer to my period, I'll notice white along with clear. It happens during sex as well.
I think it could come down to individual pH in the vagina and the diet of the girl.

Yeast infections happen. Especially when women are athletic, consume large amounts of dairy or are on any medications that could effect the pH in the vagina.
They go away quickly and if the girl isn't totally retarded, you won't even see the discharge or smell because you should not be having sex when you have a yeast infection anyway. My ex never experienced any of it because I instantly knew when things were not right and treated it immediately.
