Yeah, me too. Scanners are huge and unnecessary when the same result can be achieved with a digital camera.

but by utilizing a machine a whole book could be copied in less time and for less overall tedium to the user.

Oh, I'm not arguing against the lego contraption- that thing is the shit.
I'm saying that a digi cam is better (imo) if you already have one, as opposed to manually scanning in images.

Well my plan got rumpled a bit. My library decided against buying the set (I don't blame them) and I got volume 4 through Inter-library-loan (thanks to U. Central Florida).
There's some detailed descriptions in here to be sure, but I was hoping for the full glossary that Alan posted in the beginning of this thread. I guess that is in Volume 1?

Thanks Alan! It is much easier to save these on my computer for reference rather then digging through my books....

Wow, this is awesome! Thanks a lot for this info. Easier than dragging out my field guide all the time.
I converted the .jpg files into an easy to store/print PDF. Enjoy!

The mushroom books at my Library are lame, they list all Active shrooms with a Skull and Cross bones lol
I bet you can get something good via interlibrary loan.

It would be awesome if a shroomery member with access to a lot of myco books and info made one.
That thing is awesome! I bet the part that just grabs one page and turns it is difficult. I guess just a rubber foot could do it...maybe...
I usually take the books out into the sun and use a camera.
it wouldn't be hard at all, but you might sacrafice a book page or two in tuning it.
you'd probably want to be absolutely sure it was turning thousands of pages without a hitch before you left it unattended with anything rate or valuable.

In faerie circles perchance I might, hope Elven honey bread to find.
Over stream and tangled root I leap, o'er bough and slumbering badger's keep.
Under hoary oak and willow I bound, to find such groves as can be found,
the sating mushrooms; spring's delight, as gifts from figures of the night.

I have access to .pdf books about mushrooms but probably shouldn't post them on this site for copyright purposes.

Thanks for this! I've gone hunting for edibles for as long as I can remember. I remember my dad carrying me on his shoulders...and I didn't get hung up in some tree! But dear old dad never taught me anything about the mind expanding groups :-) This will help me identify both. I must be the dumbest noob ever? I found this in that thread that nobody ever reads! LOL! Thanks again. This is excellent!
