Sometimes I wonder. There often seems to be no rhyme or reason to their actions and you can never get any information out of them. Are we being set up?

Perhaps.
I try to provide honest answers to anyone who asks about my moderating in a forthright manner- even people I don't like or who I have banned. I've also set up a thread for bitching about my moderating in the chemistry forum: so the agrieved can be hear there or speak their mind with others who are upset.
Its actually kind of weird: very few people ever complain in any serious way. I try to be open minded and can be convinced I'm wrong or that the rule wasn't clear/whatever, but most people who get upset just send me a PM calling me names without even explaining what the issue is. Seems kinda strange to me: I'd imagine someone that pissed off would try to explain why a mistake was made. If they are that upset it would seem they should have a pretty easy case.
