Chrono Trigger vs. Final Fantasy

Back in the day when Chrono Trigger came out it was the best RPG of its time. Final Fantasy series was right along with it.
I had Chrono Trigger on SNES Emulation. I beat it on my computer a couple of times. Enjoyed it every time I played it.
Now for the PSone I have FF7 and FF9 and both player's guide books. Only thing is my controller is broken atm. I can't wait to play the game again. Back in high school my freshman year I played FF7 everyday until I beat it after school. 60 Hours logged finish. Loved it.
When I get that new controller i'll be playin' it again.
Which do you think is better Chrono or FF?
I also have Chrono Cross on the PSone, but it isn't that good.
Give me your opinions. What is your favorite FF series game?

3 for snes or 7 for ps1 were without a doubt my favorite FF games, chronotrigger was righteous too... i try not to compare things that are
in college i remember one of my roommates still had a ps1 and had chrono cross... i never played it, but watched some of the cut scenes and they were all sorts of crazy psychedelic vision quest madness. you should get that shit.

It's hard to say for me, because both of them were games that literally hooked me like heroin or cocaine. FF VII was great for me because I bought a PSX just to play that game (after buying an N64 first and hating myself for it). I really wish I didn't look at the strategy guide, but there was just so much shit in that game that I would've never even done half of the shit in it.
Chrono Trigger was a once in a lifetime game for me as well. My Uncle and I played it over and over again. I'm a fan of Rock/Metal so I liked the names of the bosses when I was a kid (Flea ). I'd have to say they are tied imo.
One game that doesn't get mentioned a lot, yet a game I love, is Brain Lord. That and Ogre Battle... didn't care for Tactics Ogre (it was video-crack for my Uncle), but I loved Ogre Battle.

i agree, one game was about stopping kefka, and intertwined 12 other characters life events into the game, deeply. the other was about time travel, both incredible games that define the history of best games ever made.
had to say which was better. those are both my favorite 2 games btw, chrono trigger and final fantasy 6

I used to love ff6 for SNES and never owned Crono Trigger on it. I have a SNES emulator on my phone, and I must say I wish I had owned a copy during my teens, I would have played it through many times.

This is not a fair question.
I've played the Chrono Trigger ROM four times through w/o New Game+ in the past half year, also FF 6,7,9,12. Just aquired 13.
Favorite FF? Probably somewhere between FFIV and FFXII.
FFVIII and FFVII being the best to actually finish, (the WEAPONS and the FFVIII card game quests), and FFX and Super Mario RPG and Super Metroid, (fuck you, its good), lately.

I rented a game back in the day and got trigger by accident in the case.
First ever rpg. Was hooked. It is beyond all others.

FF6 > Chrono Trigger > FF4 > FF7.
i still think super mario rpg should be up there as well, i'm surprised they haven't made more of them over the years as well. i think chrono cross sucked, had they simply went with the same battle system from chrono trigger it could have been badass, it was a great combat system.
also i've been wanting to get FF4 the after years on the playstation network. i've been wanting sequels for years

the Paper Mario games are pretty much the continuation of SMRPG.
I like Chrono Trigger's battle system more but FFVI has a better storyline. Then again CT is more funny... Hard to choose.
You might want to try Secret of Mana, action oriented battle system and a pagan sort of atmosphere. The third one for SNES was also translated and I think you need to get that ROM if you don't have it.

I love me some Super Metroid. I haven't played chrono trigger enough, I bought it for D.S. then just ended up selling it. My cousin talks about it, and I hate that I didn't give it a chance... I'll get it again someday and actually play it.

They are all excellent games.
I have to give the edge to Chrono trigger though, for it's combos and story and since it's a one off.

Chrono Trigger is the shit, got it with FF4 for the ps1 (go duel pack), but I gotta go with Final Fantasy, only because #7 is the game that got me into RPG's in the first place.
