Really, cubes are cubes. Any should work.

I suggest the mutant strains, albinos, Penis Envy... etc. because they look different than normal cubes.

For something completely different, but just as easy, Look into the truffle producing strains such as Mexicana A or Atl #7. They are not cubes and that is part of the fun.

Aren't some "strains" more domesticated or stabilized, and thus more suitable for multispore?

Is penis envy harder to get good prints from?

Good questions BH, and I am sure you have your own opinions on the matter as well.

Yes, PE and Albinos can be poor spore producers so if you want prints they are not the best choice. I take for granted my access to the Marketplace, and my small collection of prints.

The older, more popular commercial strains are more "domesticated". Their genetics have been limited to a point, over muliple generations, where you can more readily expect a certain result even when using multispore instead of aga if you grow in the proper conditionsr. Of course, prints from popular strains are not as valuable to trade, since more traders already have them.

Some vendors like Sporeworks, go to great lengths to domesticate even their newest strains. Vendors such as The Hawk's Eye, go to great lengths to keep many of their spores as wild as possible by limiting their generational turnover. They cater to people who work with agar, or people who wish to take their chances with the randomness of nature (which I love the most when it comes to cubes).

Actually, I don't have a dog in this race. I've never done anything other than multispore.

Is the rustspore "strain" good for printing?

Neither do I BH.

I like MS and never needed agar to grow more, bigger, faster growing, potent fruits.

I don't know about CRS from experience. Typically, the darker the spore, the heavier the print looks, but lighter pigment may be the cause not lack of spores. That is a good question for workman.

Well, why don't you try them all and see if you are right in your potency theory. Then grow them all again and see if you still agree.

Honestly, cube potency tends to average out. The most reliable way to increase potency is to eat more.

Mutant cubes are thought to be more potent, but they are also often hard to print and produce smaller flushes of fruits. Remember I said potency tends to even out? Either you get fewer potent fruits, or more average fruits. In the end you get roughly the same amount of trips.

PEU may be your best bet, but it sounds like you doubt the authenticity of your spores. PE is a prolific fruited for a mutant. I don't know about PEU though.

Well I got the PEU print from another member...I'm not sure if i'm doubting the authenticity or not.  I'm just about to start a grow for the first time this year so i'm just excited..but I think I'm definitely gonna go for the PEU print I was given.  And probably do Fiji also because it's pretty rare and I'll be giving away free prints after in the marketplace to spread it around :thumbup:

Fiji and RedBoy will be good traders. So will PEU, if you get prints.

Redboy is a pretty potent cube.  I wonder about the Fiji too.

They are all potent. You want something really potent? Try a different species of fungus.

What are the low ends for temperature that a Cubensis can survive in (Outdoor tub)? There's a temperature cold spike tomorrow with the highs at like 71 and the lows in the lows in the 30's to low 40's. The days immediately will start warming up days after.

Ok perfect. One is in fruiting mode and the other is fully colonized but has been pretty stubborn about pinning..perhaps putting it outside will trigger it (more fae) guess we'll see I am bringing them in to check on them/pick, then put them back out ,since you say they can survive those temps i have nothing worry about.

I have Teonanacatl from fsre, anyone have any knowledge of this strain? It wasn't what I expected, but it seems like an interesting strain.

It is a cube from Mexico and has been available commercially for a long time.

It was originally marketed as an extra spiritual cube.
