A truly unique cube tends to come with a paper trail, especially new ones. People want to brag about how they did it. The lack of info here is telling.

It's a generic cube variety that a guy named 'creeper' renamed so that he could sell more spores.

It's just a name. He claims he's made potent 'hybrid' strains but it's just a marketting gimick. I would be surprised if even he knew where the spores came from.

So what's up with the "chile" strain?
Do you guys think it's actually from chile? Because I have read there are no cubes there (but, I don't know for sure, sounds similar to the PESH thing)
Anyway, is it possible that these are actually just newer or do you think it's just a marketing scheme?
I had one that came in a pack from a while ago, decided to test it. Growth in all of them but really slow. I had the same thing with dancing tiger (also a "newer" strain, supposedly).

For sure DT did seem less domesticated than the other ones I've worked with. Longer colonization times with the same everything else as A strain inoculated the same time. Also fruiting wasn't very prolific, though in the same conditions, A strain seemed to push out about 4x more. There was also a more distinct, different kind of look to the DT than other cubes. Very light tops, and more blobby and amorphous shapes, while A strain was perfectly shaped and most specimen looked the same.

Anyway, my question is about the Chile strain, I am just adding that DT stuff as a note.

Cubes grow in almost any tropical climate.

If the vendor is reputable I would be willing to believe that the original spores came from that country.

Dancing tiger is just cubensis where the spores came from China. It's not one of Creeper's re-names.

My family had lived in America before it was even United States.

Though my original ancestors came from the U.K. I consider myself to be American and not '1/16th' Irish.

Unless you know that the spores came directly from a fruit in the country of origin then they were probably grown in a lab to make prints.  The original spores may be from Chile but if a company is selling them then they probably grew them out in their lab first to make bulk prints.

Your spores are probably not from chile but several generations ago they're grandparents spores could have been from there.

Yeah, that's about all I learned about them so far.

I "acquired" a syringe of them without doing my research first -_-

What do you mean 'how do I explain it' ?

I never said they WOULDN'T grow where there wasn't any tropical climate.

For whatever reason conditions in that one location wherever the spores were harvested from was appropriate for them to grow and they did. Do I really need to explain that?

Or it could all just be another marketing ploy. Who knows.  Maybe a cow in australia that ingested spores was moved to tasmania for whatever reason and someone picked them off a cow turd?

I can't be held accountable for the freakish way nature decides to work.

Ah ok just says on spores sites: "Found by so and so on the island of Tasmania"

Guess theres always a few exceptions to rules and maybe cubes growing in cold climates is one.

The one thing I can say is while there may not be many cubes in New York or New Jersey for example, on a humid, hot summer, if you add a bunch of used sub to your lawn, your state now has cubes, so it's kind of a weird sort of thing.

Yeah I'm thinking a guy has just made some sort of outdoor patch then after a few generations printed one and called it a new strain because fairly sure they arent wild.

Hawaiian is not from Hawaii. It was introduced to the marketplace by Pacifica Exotica Spora (PES) which was a company run out of Hawaii. Hawaii is so remote, not many outside fungus made it here, so we have some pretty crazy fungi that developed over time. We do get pan cyans. Also if you grow them, they will keep growing so I would not be surprised you could now find some cubes in cow and horse pastures. PESH however, is not from Hawaii. It is believed PESA is from the Amazon.

If you're really looking for "less domesticated" why not take a stab at growing actual wild cubes?  Just like a box of chocolates, you never know what you'll get.  Purple Mystic (Floridian from Plant City) has been through a few hands only and the fruits are really satisfying in terms of the trip - check out the monster thread about it and look in the marketplace for new prints.

Here's a couple pics to entice you from what I grew out, first generation:
