Games modeled around real-life areas

Just wondering what games you have played that were closely modeled around real-life parts of the world. And did those games ever have a very good sense of consistency for what the real location was like?
I ask because I picked up a copy of Fallout:New Vegas. As many here know I am a long time Vegas local. And due to my wandering nature I know the surrounding area around Las Vegas about as well as any person could. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they really did model the world in Fallout:NV based on real locations around here. And they managed to keep the layout pretty consistent with the real world locales.
When the game started and I found myself in Goodsprings I actually laughed. I've had a beer at the shitty little bar in Goodsprings on several occasions. And trust me...the real life Goodsprings is nowhere near as nice as the one in the game!
Then as I began to explore the world I found that they really used real-world locations for many things.
The Southern areas all modeled after real locations: -Goodsprings -Sloan -Jean -Primm (the "Bison Pete" hotel has the rollercoaster in the game...in real life its called Buffalo Bills) -NCR Correctional Facility (there really is a prison out there) -Nipton (another place that is much nicer and larger in the game then in real life) -Searchlight -Cottonwood Cove -Nelson
Areas around Lake Mead (not to mention the lake itself): -Hoover Dam -Boulder City -Boulder Beach Campground -Lake Las Vegas -Calville Bay
Areas to the West: -Mount Charleston -Redrock Canyon -Spring Mountain Ranch -Bonnie Springs
And many of the areas around the city, including Nellis Air Force Base to the Northeast, are pretty good.
I haven't been to all of these locations yet since I'm in the middle of playing the game, but I was stoked to see that they used all these real-life locations to build the world map, and they even managed to lay them out in their proper places. Sure its not perfect, and there are some things that do not belong. A good example is the "HELIOS One" facility. Although there is a large solar generating plant in that general area in real life, the tower/mirrors in the game are modeled after a place that is a couple hours drive south near Barstow, California (the solar one/solar two project). But hey, it is just a game!
So, has anyone ever come across a game that was a good representation of a real area? Now I'm wondering if Fallout 3 had a lot of the same type of thing for the area around DC? Of course since I've never been to DC I would've never realized it myself. Anyway, it has really made this game enjoyable for me in a way that is probably different from the rest of you. I really feel like I'm exploring my own local area in a post-apocalyptic world. Makes it that much more fun!

I played Fallout 3 for the first time, about a month after having visited DC. It was the same type of experience. I was like.....HEY....Ive been there.

I heard that some areas in Oblivion were modeled after the environment where the game was developed, I think somewhere in Washington? Theres ALOT of games that take place in real life locations, true crime LA and NY come to mind, but I think a fantasy world based on real landscape like Oblivion is pretty cool.

The True Crime series used street maps, but I don't think they gave any consideration outside of that to what went where.

I read that the Assassins Creed games are all extremely accurate in regards to the locations and layouts of cities. Hell, in those games ALL the characters (minus the ones you play) were actual real life people who actually existed. How cool is that?

The STALKER series, shadows of chernobyl and call of pripyat. They built several areas based on photographs of the maps and buildings. It has that feel of a nuclear wasteland, trees growing sideways or upside down. Buildings just left in the middle of meals etc.
I find it creepier than cod4 already mentioned. Just due to the vast open nature and you can transit in semi real time between massive ghost towns, the geiger counter clicking softly in the background.

Something funny happened today that reminded me of this thread. I've been working this week hauling in and out of a gravel pit out by Boulder City. As a result I've been driving back and forth through the interchange where the I95 and I93 freeways come together. As I was talking to one of the other truck drivers I referred to the interchange as "The 188". He just stared at me with a confused look on his face. I didn't even realize what I had done!

Explanation in case you haven't played 'Fallout:New Vegas'.....in the game there is a group of vendors who have set up camp at that spot. They call it "The 188" since the two freeways that met there were the 95 and 93 (95+93=188). Of course no one in real life has ever called it that....until today!

Anyone remember the Midtown Madness series? The locations in all three games were modeled around real-life cities.
The first was set in Chicago, the second in London and San Francisco, and the third in Paris and Washington DC.

Heh, not sure how I missed this thread.
When the woman and I were visiting Vegas last week, I kept commenting on how everything was matching up with New Vegas
And yeah originally from DC and Fallout 3 is pretty true to that as well.

Left 4 Dead 2 was based in New Orleans. It isn't quite as accurate as some games' modeling of cities, but it captured the general appearance of places

No one heres played LA Noire? Or Prototype? Weird...
-------------------- Men are born for games. Nothing else. Every child knows that play is nobler than work. He knows too that the worth or merit of a game is not inherent in the game itself but rather in the value of that which is put at hazard. Games of chance require a wager to have meaning at all. Games of sport involve the skill and strength of the opponents and the humiliation of defeat and the pride of victory are in themselves sufficient stake because they inhere in the worth of the principals and define them. But trial of chance or trial of worth all games aspire to the condition of war for here that which is wagered swallows up game, player, all. - The Judge
