Initiatives to legalize pot in the works DenverPost
An organizer of a campaign to put a marijuana-legalization initiative on the 2012 ballot said Thursday the measure would likely apply only to those over age 21 and would allow personal possession of only small amounts.
Brian Vicente, the executive director of Sensible Colorado and one of the voices behind the Colorado Legalization 2012 campaign, said the draft-initiative language would create a state-licensed system of pot shops, similar to the regulatory system for liquor stores, and would allow individuals to grow small amounts of marijuana on their own. He said marijuana sales would likely be subject to a special excise tax.
Details are still being worked out, Vicente said. The campaign has yet to file any initiative language with the state.
"We think it's got a really good shot of passing," Vicente said during a panel discussion at the annual conference of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.
Vicente's campaign is one of two that have said they are working to put a marijuana-legalization initiative on Colorado's 2012 ballot. A group called Legalize 2012 is also formulating an initiative. On its website, that campaign says it will propose a "freedom-based" model, with "no unreasonable limits on personal possession" and no extra taxes beyond standard sales tax.
Vicente's campaign has the backing of major players in national marijuana politics, and at the NORML conference, a number of those leaders expressed optimism about 2012 campaigns in Colorado, California and Washington.

I may begin looking for a job in Colorado or Maine if either of those states legalizes it.

I'm in Colorado. This would be so great for civil liberties, and that's first and foremost compared to pot quality. I gotta say though, the medical weed market has only destroyed colorados reputation as having only the highest quality dank. I can't see this system coming out with any danker commercially grown bud. As long as they fully legalize the home cultivation, then FUCK YES COLORADO!!!

I'm not sure how you've come to this conclusion. Care to explain?

Dispensaries have some OK bud. It's 35-40 an eighth for a reason.
They do have name brands though. I sampled AK-48 (not 47 apparently) the other week and it was superb.
Name brands tend to sell out faster than hell and only the not-so-good crumbly dry buds remain. As far as I know. I have a few buddies with cards, I don't carry one myself. This is what I've experienced and what I've been told.

35-40 an 8th for DISPINSARY grown weed is a whole lot better than I'm doing now.
Just sayin'.

When I lived in Austin I was paying 50 an 8th for way better nug. I'd rather have that than the dispensary midgrades, even at 35 an eighth.
However their name brands are cheaper and better. They just sell out faster, leaving it unavailable for cardless suckers like me.

It should be interesting. I've yet to meet anyone here who is against legalization in this state, and that includes the episcopalians that go to church across my street. I bet the cops will vote for it too - they simply don't give two shits about pot. Would be a great disappointment if it went the way of prop 19

Well, it's attempt # 2 or 3.. The last time it was voted on was 2007 I believe for legalization of up to one ounce of cannabis for adults over the age of 21. It didn't pass but it was 40% pro, 60% against.
It's pretty relaxed as it is... If the common consensus is to put it on paper, than put it on paper

Only downside is it'll be harder to trade for weed. I currently get the medical eights mentioned upthread for an ounce of fungus. The exchange rate is skewed, but it's still better than buying the stuff.

You get what you get. Schwaggy brick weed trades even, ounce for ounce. Medical grade is far more expensive. And I usually get the drier crumblier bits mentioned upthread, which are still really tasty. I try to get a half or more at a time, otherwise it just goes too fast. So that's a qp of shrooms.
