It was the cheap bird seed you can get at dollarama. honestly it doesn't matter what you get the more husks and twigs in it the better....it's a wood eater, I even left in the sunflower seed shells. Just make sure you add some vermiculite to fluff it up so it doesn't make a solid block of paste out of the seed. I think it was budgie seed with a lot of millet in it. I added some ground up drywall and coffee grounds too.
Off the top of my head
for each (dry) kilogram of seed
add
2 cups of vermiculite
2 tablespoons ground drywall and 1 tablespoon used coffee grounds.
soak/steep/boil or whatever your seed to hydrate it drain and then add the verm/drywall/coffee.
mix it up, make it so it feels moist but not drippy wet by adding verm or water then PC it in whatever you like.
Bags, jars , cups, small tubs, PP food containers, anything, Lion is not picky.
Inoculate then wait. If you did it clean you cannot fail, it will even force it's way out of the filter and fruit if you ignore it too long.
I ignored a jar full of hardwood plugs I knocked up...it came out on it's own.
In my own defense I didn't have logs to plug.
I let my culture fail...but I know a tree that fruits it and it's due

I was wondering if even extra sunflower seed shells may be beneficial being they are like wood. You may be on to something leaving those in.

I used gypsum from wallboard on my first experiment and killed my culture. I googled drywall composition and found that it often has a fungicide in it, so I'm using gypsum from the garden center now. I also have hericium fruiting in my basement in a SGFC, and very interested in making a spore print.

Good luck.
You will want to suspend the LM fruit over whatever you are taking
the print on. I have done this, and it works fine.
