 ROTC and Drugs

So I'm a senior in high school currently involved with applying to colleges, etc. And basically my parents and family are putting pressure on me to apply for an Air Force ROTC scholarship. Does anyone have any information on Air Force ROTC drug testing (type of test, how often, etc) and how ROTC could affect my life as a happy weed smoker? Google hasn't been much help.

you'll never be a happy weed smoker in the rotc imo.. especially if you want to fly.
work for a sport pilot's license and you won't have medicals until you decide to move up to general aviation.

if youre just doing it for the scholarship it shouldnt be a problem. unless youre caught of course.. then you lose everything. thats with anything though.
no way would i do military though.. i couldnt handle that shit.

Airforce + any drug use = your fucked
You'll loose you funding, credits, they'll pull everything from you. Dishonorable discharge... They random, and test when ever you get hurt at work or school.

Well I don't plan on flying in the rotc. I'm mostly just planning on doing it for the scholarship, monthly pay, and guaranteed job after college. I already almost have my private pilot's license.

Almost seems justified... I wouldn't want to fly or fly with anyone impaired in any way at all, even weed

all the AF ROTC friends I have are brainiacs, I'm glad some of them are doing it, I have great faith that the AF probably kicks ass with people like them operating. good luck

ALSO, I;m not positive but I'm pretty sure if you fuck up with the navy, they make you pay alllll the money back. Remember that.

Ummm... Who ever said anything about flying high (no pun intended  )? I'd never fly while impaired. But the Air Force will kick you out if you fail a drug test, which typically measures back a couple weeks to a month.

Yeah its lame you can't do it on your off time..  but I guess you could smoke JWH or something of the likes - not quite the green bud but a high nontheless

I don't think you understand... The ROTC program would pay for most (if not all) of my college education. And they'd pay me 300-500 dollars per month for living costs. And then after college they'd give me a job for four years (Air Force service) which would give me experience in my major field (physics). I do not want to be a pilot. That is for recreation and such at this point.

can't you avoid all this by getting a job flying someone's private plane and earning the money you need for school?
finding a better employer would be my recommendation.

In order to do that I would need to take off time from school which would be counterproductive. I guess my best option would be to try to get as many scholarships as I can before college other than ROTC scholarships. Or else I may need to take eight years off from smoking.

It's something I'm coming to grips with too, I quit smoking weed in the summer and running a lot more trying to go to OCS for the marines, priorities man priorities.
sucks though
Also, don't do this for your parents man, loans are you friend, you go to college to get a good job to payem off, don't join the AF and then hate life just to get through college.

They do not test for THC during a flight physical.

I was on track to become a commercial pilot up until some assholes knocked down the WTC, and all the jobs dried up. To make any real money flying airplanes you either need to fly for a major airline, or fly commuters for a large corporation. To get a job with the majors, you need to have an Airline Transport License (which takes a significant amount of training in addition to a commercial license) as well as 500-1000 hours of experience in a jet. In order to get the Jet experience you usually need to take a very low paying job, flying smaller jets for a commuter airline. My sister dated a guy who flew for JetBlue, trying to build his hours, and was only getting paid $18k annually...

Don't fuck with weed and the military. It would be nearly impossible to test for shrooms though  .
What is more important to you, weed or ROTC will give you? that is the ultimate question you have to ask and answer.

Hm, yes, that is the question I must ask myself. You make a good point about the shrooms. And I could probably get away with smoking occasionally, but I would need to keep it to extreme moderation.
