Quitting weed for mental clarity and motivation.
    #13226149 - 09/21/10 09:28 AM (13 years, 5 months ago)

So lately I've become the ultimate lazy ass and I've decided that I really need to quit smoking weed all day everyday. I think I'd be fine if I just smoked it on the weekends or a couple times a month, but being baked 24/7 is definitely holding me back from living up to my full potential. I'm 25 now and have been smoking daily since I was 16. So I've been blazed out of my mind for my entire adult life and really don't even know what my "full potential" is as an adult.

I've just smoked the last of my JWH so today will be the first day of my break.

I guess I'm making this thread as kind of a journal so I can keep track of my progress and note the mental changes as they happen. But I'd also like this thread to be a reminder to me that I really do want to quit for those days when I really feel like smoking. I guess this thread could also be motivation for others who are in the same boat as me but haven't quit yet...

But anyways, I'd really appreciate any encouragement, advice, or tips.

I've been smoking weed all day every day for 9 years now so weed is a very big part of my life and it's not going to be easy to just straight up quit. But I really do think I will be able to do it this time. I feel that my hard core stoner days are behind me and it's time for me to move on with my life. I'm feeling all sorts of emotions right now thinking about the future without weed... happy, excited, nervous, and sad.

Good luck. You're just going to have to learn what you really do when you're bored

Yeah, well once I get my motivation and social skills back I plan to go out and get a real job thats not just selling drugs.  Once I have a full time job I won't be bored at all.

I was doing that when I had my last job a couple months back. I worke 12 hour shifts so I only had enough time to smoke 1 bowl before I went to bed.

But even just that 1 bowl a day had an effect on me. If I was completely clean I know I would have been waking up with lots more energy in the morning and I would have been much more social at work.

But after this break is up I think I'll be able to get high on the weekends and still keep everything in control

Well....

One of my friends just came over and smoked a bowl with me, and I realized that my j-dub pipe has a LOT more resin in it than I tought, probly enough to last me the day.

So today will not be the first day of my break, but my last day getting high before I take my break.

I can't pretend to have been smoking as long as you have but I reigned my smoking in a few months back and have definitely felt better for it. Don't get me wrong, I still smoke, just more of a weekend/couple of times a week kind of thing. I love the clear headed feeling I have in the morning after not smoking until 2 the night before.

That said though I have commitments that I have to try and meet. If it wasn't for that then who knows. I fucking hate being part of the system. Fuck the system.  What have you done to me!  :crying:

So today is going to be my first day without getting high. I think the hardest part for me is going to be getting to sleep. I've got xanax to help but I don't want to become dependent on xanax for sleep.

I had enough to smoke all day yesterday but ran out before I went to bed. I couldn't sleep at all and was tossing and turning all fucking night. Eventually I said fuck it and smoked every last bit of resin out of my JWH pipe. I sat there for like an hour vaping every last drop of it. I felt like a fucking crack head. :nonono: But once I caught a buzz a fell asleep no problem.

I'm gearing up for a break off JWH soon. I haven't been consistently sober for the past year so this should be interesting.

Yep, the boredom is the worst part, along with food appetite. I've had to stop for jobs, just don't lean on other drugs. Maybe try a 3mg melatonin approx 3-45 minutes before bedtime. Works for me during the week when we dont have weed.

I've got some melatonin in the medicine cabnit.

Its the only sleeping pill that actually works and doesn't leave me feeling groggy and sleepy in the morning.

1 & 1/2 days in and I can already feel some changes.

I'm much more alert, more energy, more motivated, and I feel like I'm in a slightly happier mood overall.

I think I'm going to feel like a completely different person once I'm clean for 30 days I don't think I'll have any problem making it to 30 days either. I was having some cravings late last night but I also turned down an offer to get high earlier in the day.

I'm still looking forward to that first toke after the break is over though.

Due to cash issues, we dont smoke during the week. I work an office, thinky type job. It helps to not have a fog over me.

When money became an issue for me I just switched over to JWH. And since JWH is a full antagonist of the CB1 and CB2 receptors it just made me that much more lazier.

But once I'm done with this break my tolerance will be low enough that I'll be able to afford those heady nuggets again! :stoned:

I don't plan on being a heavy pot-head again tho. I'll smoke maybe just once a day at night, or only on the weekends or when I'm out at a concert or something.

Once a day is still a lot.
Plus with doing it that often it'll be a hell of a lot easier to get back into it full time.  Especially if you are forcing yourself to quit.

Weekends and special occasions only would probably be a lot easier.

Mad props to quitting cannabinoids, RobMarley420.  If you were a daily smoker, you will most likely experience some pretty drastic changes in your mental clarity, functioning, and overall motivation.

Plus, if you ever want to smoke again, you can do it occasionally and get really, really high.  :smile2:
