There's nothing to "believe", you either personally enjoy playing competitive multiplayer or you don't, thinking otherwise does not invalidate any other individuals experience or perspective.

Arcades have been dead for decades, single player score attack style games are few and far between but do have their own fans and production studios (see Platinum Games) that could be considered contemporary counterparts, but saying that (single player) is "the mode of play that MOST games rely on for a basis for anything" is a fairly reductive and antiquated perspective, and has been for about the last ten years.

Your statements strike me as aggressively anti-videogame and reductionist, aside from being increasingly muddied and poorly expressed.

Multiplayer got a lot better, the single player campaign didn't appeal to me too much

is your game ever choppy? I get some frame rate bullshit during big battles.

god damn, frame rates are horrible. i honestly can't remember the last game i played that stuttered this much. i tried the new forge world level after doing a few levels of campaign and just walking out of the spawn tunnel where you overlook the level made the game lag. this is NOT what i was expecting at all from bungie.

aside from that it's pretty cool though.

Okay, so I am not the only one!!!

JT, do you think they can release a patch that will fix the lag?

It's beyond stupid why it's so laggy, it makes me think that this is part of a bigger plan to release a new xbox with a better graphics card?

Why else would they be so stupid to release a major title with such framerate issues? Or have they still not learned from Windows Vista?

Even on a brand new slim with the game installed it has issues dropping below 30fps during the most intense moments of campaign. It's not so much a conspiracy as it is the fact the game is running on hardware that is half a decade old, no matter which way you slice it. It's likely that any optimization that could have occurred already did, there's really no way to patch performance issues on a locked down platform of that nature once you've already pushed the limits. They'd have to downsample textures, reduce polygons and run optimization routines that would trade rendering performance for visual clarity, something I'm sure they spent a ton of time with regardless.

they also are saying the 360 is just now reaching its financial half life so it will be a few more years till they make a new one.

yeah i think xeallos got it about right. the xbox is gettin old. too bad there's not a PC version.

i was really annoyed with the frame rate at first but i stopped noticing it after a few levels. luckily multiplayer seemed smooth (although i've only played like 3 rounds)

Yeah, you get a brand new game, nonetheless than a brand new halo game on a current gaming console- you're not expecting lag for your hard earned $60. I'm beginning to notice it a bit less also.

Yea I get some choppy frames sometimes, I think theyre reaching the ceiling as far as graphics the 360 can handle.

Speaking in regards to liking "half the game"
It's a personal thing for me, I just can never get too excited about single player linear campaigns...

I enjoy the quick online matches, can be absolute chaos sometimes

The headhunter mode is by far the funnest IMO

funnest is not a word.

Are the multiplayer maps better than halo 3? I've only tried one map so far and wasn't very impressed with it.

sure... muddy and poorly expressed. look at my wonder expressions!1

you seem to like game publishers to buttfuck. whatever. i am very pro game... so go on with your rhetoric... if it's supposed to be  for one thing THEN MAKE IT FOR ONE THING FUCKING HALO NUTSACK WHORES. you don't get multiplayer gaming SEEMINGLY... it's supposed to be about playing online... and without a single player functon except for maybe PRACTICE. so f*** your bullshit. new call of duty game single player campaigns are short and succinct, for example... for a reason.

BUNGIE SHOULDN'T LISTEN TO HALO FANS. I WISH I COULD BOYCOTT BUT WHAT THE FUCK WOULD I DO THAT FOR. my opinion,... halo fans don't know shit and fans in genreal don't know that their ideas are merely salty at best. halo is turning into ketchup.

great... whores.

irksome... my opinioin can't be valid if i don't agree!!1 jeez this forum is for loss.

I didn't like the weapon sandbox in Halo 3 nor many of the maps, and in my opinion both have been substantially improved this time around. The vehicle sandbox is still retarded though, Tank > everything :sarcasticclap:

Right now? No.
Though they are well designed.
Theres only like 8 maps with some variations is some..
But the way i'm seeing it is Halo reach was meant to be a large add-on game. In a few months I would predict there will be a large amount of good, balanced maps.
