Agreed. For the money, I'd get an ionic one vs hepa, much less maintenance involved.

I was going to direct the output into the glove box to keep a positive flow of clean air going through it to make a flow hood of sorts. Turn it on for a few minutes to flush the box of contams, then leave it on while I work through the holes to keep contams from re-entering while I'm doing whatever.

Nice try,but it wouldn't be a flow hood...completely different HEPA filters.
For $250-$500 you could build your own flowhood though.
If you're interested here is a link to where you can buy the HEPA filters (or a pre built flowhood)..,
http://www.fungi.com/tools/airfilters.html
You can buy a 12" x 12" x 5.8" HEPA filter for only $89.95 or a 24" x 12" x 5.8" HEPA filter for only $129.99
If you plan on doing a lot of g2g transfers you could step it up a notch and buy a 24" x 18" x 5.8" HEPA filter for $159
All that would be left to get is a blower or inline centrifugal fan that is powerful enough to work with the filter you buy, some wood, wood screws, silicone, and a prefilter.
With flow hoods you are wanting laminar flow so it's important to match the filter to the fan or vice versa.
For laminar flow you want 100 cfm per square foot of filter. So for a 12" x 24" HEPA filter you'd want a blower or inline centrifugal fan that pushes 250+ cfm @ 0.8 to 1" of static pressure/wg (I say 250cfm as the minimum to account for the pressure also created from the prefilter).
