Police Bust 'Magic Mushroom' Operation In Peoria

 AVONDALE, Ariz. -- Peoria and Avondale police arrested a man Wednesday for growing large amounts of Psilocybin mushrooms in his apartment.
Police said 22-year-old Brandon McCreary was growing more than 5 pounds of Psilocybin, often called "magic" mushrooms.
"He was able to obtain a lot of this information on how to grow it, where to obtain the spores, directly off the internet," detective Reuben Gonzales with the Avondale Police Department said.
Police said 18 plastic bins were used to turn the Peoria apartment into a greenhouse, regulating air and light to grow the psychedelic drug.
"Brandon McCreary actually had one bedroom designated specifically for growing the mushrooms, and he had one bathroom he was using for a processing area, drying and processing and packaging these mushroom that were being sold on the streets," Gonzales said.
"For it to hit this close to home is kind of shocking," neighbor Mark Brender said.
Residents living in the apartment complex said they had no idea.
"You know, nothing surprises me these days. People will do anything to make an extra buck," Brender said.
"This was his only source of income, and he did call it a hobby," Gonzales said.
Now, just two days before his 23rd birthday, McCreary's hobby has landed him in the 4th Avenue jail, facing felony drug charges.
"It might be easy, but it’s still illegal and he's going to face the penalties for conducting an easy, illegal operation," Gonzales said.
The drugs seized from McCreary's apartment are wroth an estimated street value of $7,700.
Avondale and Peoria police worked together during the investigation that started with an anonymous tip.
McCreary faces four felony counts, including possession of a dangerous drug and possession of a dangerous drug for sale.

Dont you love how they butcher the English language. I wish I could put psilocin crystals into some dirt and have the crystals colonize some substrate.
Possession of a dangerous drug? Funny how that charge in reality only applies to very few "schedule 1" drugs. Americas favorite liver solvent is one of the most dangerous of them all. Jimmy Hendrix probably tried every drug the 60's had to offer and which one ultimately killed him? though so. Alcohol causes more violence than almost any other drug. The AZ courts call DMT a dangerous drug too. The only one not called dangerous is pot which they have to call marijuana to avoid use of the latin word cannabis(useful hemp).
The walls are closing in on these drug warriors as their ignorance is exposed. Hopefully they commit Japanese ritual suicide to end their spread of ignorance and violence.

Don't know if you guys are thinking what i am.But I can see an attack on the shroomery in the future,if everyone getting their info off this site keeps trading their mushrooms for money.You know they are telling the police all about the site,and what everyone does.Stop trading mushrooms for money if you are going to grow them.

Poor guy - what a bunch of shit. I hope Gonzales illegal kinfolk steal his car so he will have something that matters to think about.

Since were talking about security here, have some here considered using proxy servers? Many people on the torrents who have been having trouble with DMCA notices have turned to foreign proxy servers. If you can get a Swedish based proxy server your IP is protected as anonymous under Swedish law and cannot be turned over. This is relevant because I think we have a vulnerability here where off-site links or even in-site photos(?) could be used to log the IPs of users. If law enforcement caught on to this and used this information intelligently it could become a serious problem. Clicking on a post could land you on a watch-list. If people are seriously concerned about the shroomery being seriously infiltrated they should look into getting a proxy. I've heard from a torrent friend that dedicated European proxys come as cheap as 5 euros a month. This seems to be a quite reasonable price for your anonymity.

The drugs or alcohol alone doesn't cause the behavior,it's how the person reacts to the drugs and alcohol.And the state of mind one is in has alot to do with it also.But drugs and alcohol will not make you violent.If that's the case everyone that drinks in their home after work would go outside and look for a fight.Their are people in this world who can do drugs and drink responsibly.But it's the ones who can't that ruin it for us.

This guy fucked up. It's not cool to try to live off of illegal things. yeah, it can happen, and yeah it might rock , but is it worth it?
To some; no. To people who have normal lives and ENJOY them, children or marriages that can be effected, it's NOT worth a few grand to be incarcerated. Simply put.
It is NOT fair, but it has to be done.
