What shroom

Hi all, was presented with what looked like a baby amanita muscaria by one of my kids. He had founded it on the edge of a path through an evergreen forest, and I was just wondering if it is what I thought it was!

Above is a top down pic.

Above is a side view

and above is a picture of the gills.
There were similar shrooms near it which appeared to be bigger versions that had there tops splayed out and the white spots washed off.
So any ideas folks?
Thanks for reading

Also, the bigger flattened out shrooms I take it are the Fly Agaric when it has grown out and the white bits have fallen off?
Big thanks to all for replying.

As I understand it they can be made edible by proper preparation.
On the other hand if by 'good to eat' you mean 'make you see the spirit world' there is only one way to find out If you are brave enough, dry them thoroughly and eat them. You may get sick, you may get lost in space or you may just get disappointed. Either way they probably won't kill you.

You should dry them before eating them as drying kills various poisons. Still probably feel sick though. Never tried them but would like to one day. I'm on the look out for them lately actually, was this in Europe or US? UK?

If psiloc(yb)in was legal, no one would eat this. It's all a big conspiracy propagated by headshops.

I am aware that the consumption of natural psychedelics can have unpleasant side effects such as nausea, gas and vomiting. I have taken Liberty Caps before with no ill effects, (50), and HWBR seeds which left me puking and feeling bloated.
I suppose what I am asking is:
1 Is the shroom pictured mature enough to eat?
2 Are the older more spread out with washed off white bits safe enough to eat, (they will not kill me)?
3 Will I experience hallucinogenic effects as described here:
http://www.a-muscaria.com/amanita-muscaria-basics.php
I have never tried these before but have in my younger years dabbled with various hallucinogens and would like to experiment with some ethnobotanicals.
Any all advice/opinions welcomed.

1 Yes, it is "old enough" 2 yes, no problem 3 they are not hallucinogenic, they are a deliriant.
The small young one in the pics is not enough to feel the effects. Don't eat them fresh, dry them out, preferably in the sun. That will aid the ibotenic acid -> muscimol conversion. I don't eat them. I prefer a good solid psilocybin trip to a questionable Amanita high that may either happen or cause projectile vomiting.

Thanks very much for the info. I would love to try the Liberty Caps again, I just have no luck in finding them . I am keen to try the Fly Agaric as I have never tried them before, so would appreciate any advice from seasoned users.
Another question is:
Do I just eat the cap? (I have heard conflicting stories on this).

Pretty find! When we ate these, we heated them. The effect was a sleepy state and there was lots of tearing and drooling. Not the most fun state to be in.
