Nice libs. They look so good when they're fresh and juicy.

Those are some nice beefy libs, most the others I've seen posted from this season seem so skinny in comparison.

Nice to see more photos from that bog. I find it very unusual to find them together with that kind of moss.

Thanks for the habitat shots!
Do you know any of the moss, grass, or tree species in and around the bog?

I'm very jealous... very nice finds. Here In Estonia I just spotted my first liberty cap ever - unfortunately it was behind a fence and there were people around. I hope I can find a spot just like yours. Cheers

Anywhere there's grass, sedge you can find libs. Also I never found a lib in pastures (well, 1) and I found hundreds this season. Don't look in them much though to be fair. I found loads on grassy verges on the sides of footpaths.

Looks to be two different types of gyms there - the reddish one could possibly be G. purpuratus, I haven't heard of them fruiting in Finland before but it has been found in Germany so it could very well be found in Suomi. The other one looks like it could be G. Sapineus... but the gills look somehow wrong.
Oh, a question for you - I live near what in my years of research should be the perfect habitat for finding P. semis, enough rain, enough sedge grasses near the sea. The conditions lately have also been perfect, rain with sunny breaks, cold enough nights but I still haven't found any. My theory is that my elevation is too close to sea level - any idea what your elevation is? I think libs prefer a bit of elevation, not necessarily mountainous but higher than where I'm at. All I need to do is take a short drive I believe to find them... just too damn busy with work

Thanks for you input That would be super if those gyms turns out to be G. purpuratus.

Ups, did not notice your new message. Well I dont know about my sea level. Maybe you like to check pastureland too, I bet that season is peaking now or very soon.

i found a nice looking location for libs goin to check out tomorrow. the field gets flooded at least once a year usually in spring or winter, i was just wondering would this just kill any mycelium that would grow there or would it be a good place to check out. any ideas would be grateful thank you.
p.s it could be completely for a week or more
