for casual discussion of starcraft 2 or anything else, with starcraft 2 players
no ID necessary, just chat
there were a couple SC2 related threads but none dedicated simply to SC2 players conversing with each other so here it is
hi, i'm kinda good but also kinda suck, been getting rushed a lot lately. my favs are zerg and protoss but im just not well acquainted with terran yet.
been getting my ass stomped more often than not in the league 1v1s, how bout you?

I am about 50-50 in league games. IDK what the problem with my strategy is, but I am not as good as I used to be in SC I- or everyone got better? I play with terran but would like to get acquainted with protoss which was my preferred race in SC I.

Yeah this game is amazing, I have not played a RTS in over 10 years and I have become completely addicted to SC2. I love playing as protoss, It's awesome to be able to warp infantry right in front of the enemy base. I still have no idea what is going on with zerg, that race confuses me

Loving the game like many it seems. Playing Terran as the campaign made me. Played SC1 a lot, this game really brings memories back.
But i've gotten slow or i'm watching too many replays of pro's.... i sometimes just don't know what to do.. been practising against AI, is going ok. Played a fewgames online and won but only because i know how to rush and micro to a high level of annoyance... but still don't know how to Macro well enough... actually, don't know how to macro at all...
Btw, thouhgt the campaign was great. Nice variation of missions and cinematics are....well... blizzard style... should say enough
Anyone else watching pro gamer replays?, i'm learning a lot from them.

same here, havent played RTS in 10 years, and am now totally addicted.
at first I was scared, i suffer from ADD symtoms (either from a head injury or the injury just made it more noticeable), so i was very intimidated by the amount of things you have to think about at once, but ive been having so much fun i've just been addicted to it. I hope this also functions as some sort of multitasking brain exercise lol
for the zerg...this is no pro strategy, but i do know, the thing you need to focus on most is having as many hatcheries as possible (maybe not super early at the expense of more units), and most importantly, keep having the queen inject more larvae, that way when the time comes you can spawn a shitload of units all at once. not exactly a strategy, just a rough overview
but i'd recommend watching videos for learning more of the details
are people getting better? probably ...and not only that, but experienced pros now have the technology (youtube, video-editors, etc) to get their video tips out there, and even though it will take away some of my edge, I suggest you search online for advanced tips. it can really make a big difference

i am, and definitely learning from them at a rate I wouldnt from experience alone. Highly recommended to anyone who plays multiplayer
lol i still dont even know how to use all of the units, ive got the basics down, a few advanced tactics with a few units, but for one I still don't even know how to warp armies with protoss, who ive been playing with the most. i guess that's the next thing i'll look into

wow i just got my ass handed to me by the most impressive army of protoss stalkers i have ever seen

i watched the replay, if he hadnt scouted out my proxy pylon (was gonna build a gateway kinda near his base and rush with zealots), i might have had a chance. he went a long time without doing much of anything, & i fended off his early zealot assaults with guardian shielded zealots
but damn
fucker first built a forge defended his base with two photon cannons
got lucky and got to the gold minerals ( i should have scouted more but it took me forever just to find his home base)
then way later, 4 gateways
then changed them to warp gates, and 4 more of them
2 more forges, to research everything at once
then before i knew it he blinked into my base with a ridiculous amount of lv2 everything stalkers

i just completely dominated somebody using the same strategy, except my stalkers were even more fortified with sentry guardian shields
i guess it helped that i got both gold mineral bases, and he seemed completely oblivious to it

I still play Starcraft 1 ^^. I play sc2 too as well though. Been playing on and off for over a decade. Follow the progaming scene as well for just as long. So I would say I am pretty into the whole professional scene. It is pretty fun to watch once/if you can get into it. I'm pretty hyped for some fellow shroomery members to game it up with especially on my favorite game

id say the earlier the better. with my fast expand build order that i have down pat i expand at 15/18. make a gas thing. make 1 more worker. then make my pool.
that gives them a small window where my pool is being made to fuck me over.
Thats the only disadvantage of that strategy.
If i can get both y bases set up well without pepole fucking wih them too much i can really fuck up some shit.

A friend of mine just got SC2, and the game doesn't look like I would expect after 12 years of improvements. It's looks almost exactly the same. I'm sure the storyline is amazing though.

I'm sure the 3d version will bbe out soon, right? The gameplay is great - and that's what I was waiting for.

well, on the blizzard community site they gave the top 200 players a few days back... typing those names in youtube is one way.
another way is finding someone that regulary casts replays with commentary: i'm watching this guy for instance: http://www.youtube.com/user/HuskyStarcraft
also, just reading the starcraft 2 forums, sometimes people post replays.

well, i have to admit i don't mind it at all. The game was great and i didn't need much improvements. Creating a whole new gamestyle would have been risky as the fanbase is too strong and the ingame balance to fragile. They pulled it of with keeping it the same and just make everything cooler (ingame cinematics were very importantr for me and i've not been disappointed)

the expansion 'heart of the swarm' was going to take 18 months to release, at least, that's what i've heard.

I just figured the graphics would be a little bit sharper or something. WIII has better in-game graphics, and they managed to keep all the same gameplay as WII.
The cinematics were pretty awesome though. But it's seems that's the only real improvement. Other than the cinematics, it seems like an expansion that could have come out 10 years ago.
Either way, I'm still looking forward to playing it. Just wonder what took 'em so long.
