Well, that rules me out then.  I was going to offer some of my master culture slants, which aren't wedges.
In addition, mycelium will survive longer and better on grain spawn than on agar. I've actually started making master culture slants with rye berries in test tubes, and then storing them in the freezer. That's a work in progress though. So far, I've had a few cultures of oyster, reishi, and shiitake frozen for over a year, and they're still viable and robust. Based on the experiments to date, they'll far outlast traditional agar slants under refrigeration.

Also anyone who is participating in this thread should be able to figure out how to get grain/sawdust spawn onto agar themselves  It doesn't make much sense to rule out any type of culture as long as it's viable.

ha, ok I apologize.....I would just prefer to have anything on agar, rather than grain spawn or something like that.  If people want to trade grain spawn and such, maybe we should start a vvvfree culturevvv thread???

Who sent me a culture with no information at all? Come on.  Thats not cool. Blank envelope, nothing written on the culture, and no return address. How am I supposed to know what the heck it is.
