It does not have to be a "wedge". The cleanest way to share cultures is by sending slants in tubes or petri dishes. If you dont want to spend $$ for dishes and extra postage (not that its that much), the cleanest way to send a wedge is to put it into a sterilized tube, such as eppendorf tube.These little tubes are very robust, tiny and cheap.
Obviously a PC'ed baby food jar can do as well, but it is relatively heavy and does not fit into an envelope.
Sending wedges in ziploc bags is also practiced, but it is not the best way: they do not come sterilized. They are usually fairly clean when new, but it only takes one mold spore to ruin the whole thing. Besides, they do not protect the wedge from crushing. A wedge omlet is not the best thing to deal with.
Now, for the benefit of others I would like to explain how this thread works. A "VVVV" means next poster, the one below. Its basically a bunch of down arrows. This thread is a free culture exchange thread, so if you want a culture mentioned in the last post, and have something (anything) to share with the next one, please go ahead and post. Once you do, PM the previous poster your address so he can ship the culture to you.
I do have a ton of interesting edibles to share, I'm just waiting for this thread to pick up. To continue:

also you should mention if you know what your culture is(clone?generation? etc?)

come on, throw something sexy out there... i've already got P. Ostreatus, H. erinacius, A. aegerita, L. edodes.... maybe on or two more, and more than willing to throw some cultures of any of these into the mix... until something fun comes along, this is just another BUMP!!
