Ah I've just figured it out via http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2009/10/6/foldinghome-ati-radeon-hd-5870-is-as-slow-as-4870!.aspx
I don't think it's at all optimized for my video card though. Supposedly it doesn't use it that well. They need to update the program I suppose.
Anyway...
GPU and CPU maxed out!

I've tried it with all sorts of drivers, the latest too. Oh well. If anyone has a 5850/70 etc and gets the GPU version to work on Windows 7 let me know.

I have brf cakes with b+ cub that are not fruiting. It has been 3 weeks but all we got was the little white finger popping out no pins. How much water should there be in the terrarium. The shrooms were almost floating on top of the perlite I have fixed this issue so I am wondering how to tell if the cakes are ever going to fruit?

If you do check back, the reason you got no reply is this thread is not where experts check in for your questions, and anyway it would be annoying for this thread to start discussing something so unrelated. Start a thread in the Cultivation forums.

I was the 15th top producer for our team this morning, then Fungi_x bumped me down to 16th.... .
Looks like I'll have to add a SMP client to the rig. Anyone know the PPD average for a 2.9ghz dual core on SMP?

I know a simple fix that will get your 58xx card working. Make a shortcut to your GPU client exe. Then right-click the shortcut and click Properties from the menu.
In the properties box that opens, you'll see a box labeled "Target:" with the link to the GPU client. SHould look something like this
C:\Users\BG\Desktop\GPU-0\Folding@home-Win32-GPU.exe
Well after the GPU.exe add this " -forcegpu ati_r700" without the quotes.
So it should look like this (below)
C:\Users\BG\Desktop\GPU-0\Folding@home-Win32-GPU.exe -forcegpu ati_r700
The C:\Users\BG stuff will be different depending on where you Folding folder is located. the important stuff is the "\Folding@home-Win32-GPU.exe -forcegpu ati_r700", without the quotes.
This has worked for a few people I know that have HD5850 cards, should work on HD5870 cards too. Remember to use the shortcut you created to start up the program, or else the added flags won't register. The flags simply trick the client into thinking you have a HD4xxx series card.
The new GPU3 client being released later this year will have HD5xxx series support as well as OpenCL support.

The longer the helix is, the more of a contribution you've made to the team total (it's logarithmic). The color goes from grey through red and green depending on how many points you've received in the past week.

You have to register your ID for your profile and for the shroomery team, then after you complete a work unit or two it will appear under your avatar.
