Zizek on Consumerism and Cultural Capitalism

I've made this point before with environmentalists: Trying to make "socially responsible" consumer choices seems like it's largely a feel-good exercise without a lot of tangible results. Sustainability and social justice should not be things that consumers decide whether or not they want to buy. They should be a given for any consumer product, not a marketing ploy for appealing to a certain market.
