I practice chastity to a point, meaning Im not fully chaste. Just went from mastrubating/sex every day, to about once every 2 months.
After my girlfriend and I broke up, I went on a stretch of about 6 months.
And I can definitely say that during that time, there was definitely a huge difference in the quality of meditation.
The mind calms down ALOT quicker. To get into deep meditation would take about 2 minutes tops.
Also sensing subtle energy became alot easier as well.
But the key I found, was not so much just chasitity of the organs.
But also chastity of the mind.
It must be trained, not to be perverted.
Like a taming of an animal.
So this means discipline yourself not to look at porn.
When a pretty girl walks by, force yourself not to ogle her, or fantasize where you're gonna stick it. 
Force your eyes, not to go to her butt, or rack.
Over time, you'll notice that your animal urges fade to the background.
Its alot like quitting smoking.
You just kinda have to do it, with discipline.
All smokers know they need to quit.
BUT....Only smokers who WANT to quit, will quit.
So only if you truly WANT to be chaste, will it work out for you.
Otherwise, you'll just be forcing something unnatural on yourself, and your mind may possibly become even more turbulent, which will defeat the point of chastity in the first place.
As for whether chastity is NEEDED to enhance spiritual practice.
I cant answer that. All I know is meditation is definitely easier, and more flowing when chaste.

Yeah great post indeed! I did pretty much the same as you holoverse, but then theres also the benefit in doing the opposite. If you manage to be extremely perverted, horny 24/7, meditation goes alot easier too. They call that tantra. Theres two ways, either you go for abstinence (yoga), or you go for extreme indulgence (tantra). They both lead to the same point. Extreme hedonism requires skill. Extreme abstinence also requires the same skills. I got to the point once meditation felt like having an orgasm each breath, but in order to be good at tantra you need to pretend to be a woman.. for a man, there is a limit..for a woman, there is no limit to pleasure. Whatever path you choose tho, indulgence or abstinence, both paths require not to cum, unless you're a girl. Yoga would say no sex. Tantra would say, have so much sex until you are able to master to muscles that control the cumming. They both lead to the same point; no cumming.

I have tried the tantric route a few years ago, where I would literally mastrubate for an hour or two, coming close, then backing off, and repeating.
My GF and I would have sex for over 3 hours at some times. It was great....it really "felt" like I was transmuting my sexual energy, but then unfortunately I got a very bad case of extremely painful blue balls.....
So that didnt work out for me. 
But, doesnt mean it can't work for others.

Thats because you need to move the energy to your third eye to avoid blue balls. You can draw the energy from your balls to your third eye with your breath... not only will you be able to go for hours, but some really cool stuf will happen. What you need to do is focus on your third eye (imagining a picture is one way to do it, or just keep your attention there, or keep attention on her eyes). Theres an energy channel running from your balls over your belly, over your chest, over your throat to your third eye. That's the one you can use to avoid blue balls. Your third eye is like a blackhole for energy, it absorbs it all, you could also transfer the energy to other places, but I haven't found any use for that yet.

There were amazing times, when I could literally feel the energy going up my spine into my brain, it felt amazing!!
But I still ended up getting blueballs.
So...while I understand the whole subtle energy system and chakras/kundalini.
I still can't get my rational scientific mind to accept that the sperm wont get stuck in the urethra, and clog up the works.
Because in ancient times, they just "believed" it travelled up the spine by the "feeling" of it doing so. I dont deny that feeling.
Ive felt it. But scientifically we can easily show that its not the sperm travelling anywhere.
So where else can it go, but back into the balls/urethra and back up the system.
This is why I think chastity is better, because you're not riling the beast and the sperm just reabsorbs into the body.
Instead of tricking your body into cumming, thus causing your balls to produce more sperm, and eventually causing problems.
But hey, what works for me may not work for you and vice versa.
Everyones different. Hence all these different "systems" of union with the divine.

But what if the mind is shared? How do you enforce mental chasity on other people? What if a girl thinks about having sex with you, how do you keep your chasity?

Lol...no possible way to force it on others, mental chastity is something you have to want. It takes discipline.
Physical chastity is actually the easy part. Its the calming of the carnal mind that is hard, and takes training/discipline.
You can force physical chastity easily, with a chastity belt. 
But doesn't stop the person from having dirty thoughts, and building alot of sexual tension.
And as for a girl wanting to have sex with me, and being chaste.
Well.....I haven't experienced that yet.
But you could just pleasure her fully.

It's more like a "helping along" of mental chastity for the men of that society.
They aren't strong enough to force themselves not to look at woman pervertedly, so instead of doing the real inner work themselves, they just remove the tempation physically, by covering the woman up.
I true mentally chaste person, can be in a room full of naked girls, and not get an erection. I would think anyway.
Remember, Im not talking about just plain old physical chastity here, of not having sex or masturbating. Thats simple.
Im talking about not even entertaining ANY sexual thought whatsoever.

I don't agree really as i don't see any conflict between my meditation & looking at a girls ass, in the past there may have been a conflict, but not anymore, i wouldn't ever tell anyone its something they have to do, stop looking at women, if anything that would make them want to look more, anything you supress you further empower, this is especially true of the mind/thoughts, nobody can control thoughts, you can only know that you are not the thoughts.
True meditation is not forcing anything, its allowing everything to be as it is, thats what it is to me anyway, theres nothing in conflict with awareness, the person & all its functions or dysfunctions are ok, theres no trouble, nothing to transcend, the real transcendence is in being deeply okay with everything.
