Whats with the foil on the bottom of each cake? Is this a standard practice?

yes, it's to keep the cakes from becoming water-logged and/or prevent the mycelium from spreading into the perlite.

You guys on this site F'ing rock! I just harvested 1 and a half cakes out of 8 total and I already have 100 grams wet!!! On my first grow too.
