Deep, techy, spacey, mood invoking groove with amazing aural elements.....
DJG - Lichen http://soundcloud.com/djg/lichen
DJG - Bare Hands http://soundcloud.com/djg/bare-hands-feat-komodo
Dhyan Møller - Lost in 3s (DJG Mix) http://soundcloud.com/djg/dhyan-moller-lost-in-3s-djg-mix
I'm digin' soundcloud over youtube....Generally better sound quality, streams nicer IMO, and a shit load of fantastic music....

the way i find music is digging, and digging only. i shop on beatport, addictech, digitaltunes and occasionally bleep even though it's a waste of time in most cases. then i try to find everything i want on junodigital b/c it's cheaper and buy the rest where i need to. i don't read blogs or follow dj's or top ten lists or anything like that. not that i'm going out of my way to go against the grain, i just don't see the point of chasing around music that everyone else is from a collector/dj stand point. if i like something popular that's cool but i don't really let anyone else dictate to me what's good. i buy what i like.
btw as far as further input into new stuff. i dug this release. it's all pretty solid but "space computer" is my pick. https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/release/detail/258972/20%20Degrees

I try not to listen to music that has been heard or has been listened to. Especially if people like it. That's too pop.

i don't care if other people like what i listen to, i'm just more interested in finding what i like on my own rather than having someone tell me what i should like i.e. blogs. just a matter of personal preference.

If you like a particular genre, it makes a lot of sense to visit a site dedicated to finding some of the best music available to that genre - designed by people who like the same music as you.
music blogs are a lot like, say...this thread. (and you're here...what have you got against blogs?) ;p

I find lots of good recommendations and mixes on www.dubstepforum.com . There's also lots of great advice on producing dubstep & EDM in general.

message boards are a place to exchange production tips, mixes and talk to people with similar interests. i'm a member of a few. but i just can't bring myself to bother with electronic music blogs. i think it boils down to two main reasons. one, bloggers' tastes almost never line up with my own. secondly, i'd rather make my electronic music purchases blind. i'll read blogs about cooking, beverages, science, politics, even other styles of music, but with electronic music i'd rather just dig and make my own discoveries. it's just a quirk of mine i guess. i don't think there's anything wrong with following electronic music blogs, but so far it's just been a waste of time for me.

true that millzy. the main blogs I follow are rub-a-dub-dubb.com, squittybubbler.com and bombskwad.com (my friends). dig what ur sayin about how the bloggers interests are never the same as yours, but the beauty for me is that most of the blogs are not run by one particular person, but rather a group of people, and they usually have the entire genre pretty well covered in terms of different styles/interests.
besides, all i have to do is click the play button and move on if i dont like it. most of the 'digging' i do is just on youtube. guess im too lazy to do what u do

right on. different strokes. i'll check out the blogs you listed. like i said, i may be just finding the wrong ones. try digging on some of the sites i listed. it's fun and for me it keeps me up to speed with what people are playing in addition to giving me a direct line to it. i learned to spin vinyl 10 years back, but mostly i'm a collector and just enjoy the music. i'll throw together stuff in ableton if i get enough together to make a really nice set. i'm about to get another one together since my last one is from october. i'm also about to start attending school for music actually and i'd like to get serious about production and dj'ing.

man i wish i understood the mechanics of some of the awesome dj'ing software that's available - like ableton. i've got a bootlegged copy of it I tried messing around with once but I didnt understand it a bit.
I watched one tutorial video on it which kinda made sense, but still... plus i dont really have the time to mess around with all that w/ school and all, or at least i have convinced myself that I don't have the time cuz i dont wanna get dirty
but seriously, you can spin vinyl so you're halfway there...go for it meng!
