Thanks guys. I bought "mighty putty" per friend suggestion. Shall I trust him.........hmmm...

Idk, the wall is painted. Should I sand off the paint then glue it? I'm scared to do that because if it falls off--I'll have to repaint the entire wall. Ughh...

>.<

I'd seriously just suggest screwing or nailing into the studs. A glue bond will not hold much weight. Suppose it depends on what you'll be putting on the shelf.

Gorilla glue is an amazing substance.  The only problem with it is that you must clamp the pieces together while it cures.  For a clamped wood to wood bond it is stronger than the individual pieces themselves.  That's right.  I have tried to take gorilla glued pieces apart and the result was that one of the pieces gave up its surface.

But it must be clamped tightly.  I believe it is made of the same shit as the polyurethane spray foam insulation, and thus it expands.  If not clamped that expansion will push the pieces apart.
