Battlefield vs. Call of Duty
    #12886301 - 07/12/10 09:21 AM (13 years, 8 months ago)

Im sure theres a couple threads onthis topic. but who tha fuck cares!

anyways, battle field verse call of duty, which is better...whats your opinion?

I used to play call of duty, and it was the best fps game that i could have ever dreamed of..then battlefield came out, and i played and i hated it.
but after playing battlefield for a second time, i was hooked. and now i play battlefield everytime i log onto the ps3 and my call fo duty has been collecting dust.
so recently i decided to try to get 'my game on' in call of duty and now im back in the call of duty mode....so somebody gimme ur opinon on the two and im talking specifically xbox/ps3 versions.

p.s. leave ur ps3 gamertag so i cans addd u

i borrowed my brother's copy of BC2 a few weeks ago. i still can't get in to the game. the controls just don't feel as tight, the graphics aren't as sharp, and it just doesn't feel "right" compared to CoD.

call of duty isn't perfect, but it's set the bar so high that i have a really tough time playing any other shooters these days. even games like halo which i used to be obsessed with feel sluggish and bland.

Im gonna take a guess and say you're not playing on pc?

BC2 takes a better system to run smoothly on high settings. The consoles can run CoD with a higher framerate of 60fps because the graphics/textures/particle effects/environment interaction is very obviously inferior and takes much less processing power. Not to mention the tiny maps. It might feel more polished on an inferior system because its more of an arcade shooter with mechanics better aimed at the blunt console movements. Il take my massively destructible environments and vast maps anyday. Enjoy your red jam-covered screen every time you get shot. :smoker:

yeah, strictly speaking about the xbox versions.

i concede that playing BC2 on a PC is probably a much better experience.

Me too man.

I don't think you can compare the two games to each other. It depends what kind of playin style you're after. If you want to camp it up and not have anyone complain, and take the game pretty slow paced, then BC2 is what you want.

Fast paced, no skill game is MW2.

I play both on PC.

I have a question about the MW2 map packs though. There is a stimulus and a resurgence pack, both separate. When I click find game, it only asks if I want to play regular games with the regular maps, or play the resurgence maps. So how do I play the stimulus maps? I haven't purchased either, I was just wondering.

You cant. One the new map pack came out you the old map pack is not part of the regular game set of maps. If you are looking to just get a feel for the map then do a privet match. I do that to see where spots are at.

So I'm still confused. How do you play the stimulus maps then? By clicking on the resurgence find a game thing?

To play stimulus maps you just find a game like normal and hope it puts you in a stimulus map game. Although it goes to stimulus maps alot because they want people to buy them.

I prefer COD. But I haven't play the new Battlefield. I played the demo of the first Bad Company quite a bit, and I have the arcade Battlefield game, played that a fair bit. I proberly won't get BC2, simply cos COD is really polished and I'm used to it more, so it won't feel right, y'know? I want to get a new game though, don't want to wait for the end of year for all the decent games to come out...

BC2 (PC or PS3) ftw.

I'd rather play Counter-Strike than MW2. My biggest problem with MW2 is the high number of cheating fucktards that plague nearly every server.

Battlefield is the way to go, so much more real warfare experience, large maps, heavily class based warfare, destruction, and of course Vehicles. I love battlefield now, haven't touched COD in months thanks to it.

Really don't like CoD or bad companies that much but BF2 was good. Hyped for the new Medal of Honour personally. KZ2 is my favourite next gen shooter so far.

Bad Company 2 all the way man...
I loved cod4 but mw2 just does not do it for me. Looking forward to Medal Of Honor, the Beta so far is, well it need work but it should blend the best of BC2 and MW2 together.
PC for me btw. BC2 Looks a bit better than MW2 IMHO.

Edit:
Oh and the BC2 single player was much more fun for me than MW2. Kind of hoping the next cod will bring something better. I like that explosive crossbow thingy in the trailer.

Medal of Honor beta is too damn buggy at the moment.

The game starts to freeze up whenever I try to change a classes weapon. If I actually get to the point where I select the MP7, then the game just crashes to desktop when I spawn.

It's a bit too much like MW2 for my liking anyways. Back to playing BC2.

I used to play COD for ages, was an awesome game, it actually felt good and and it didn't frustrate me at all. Then MW2 came out and it was too fast and the maps were too small. Too many 10 year olds play it and you never feel satisfied after playing a game, even if you do get 39 kills and 5 deaths. Plus way too many servers are hacked.

So I traded it in for BF: BC2 and I like it a lot better. Bigger maps, vehicles, destructible environments and more team based, people actually talk to one another about enemies positions etc and what not, where as in COD, no body talks unless it's to shout or boast.
However, the games are long, even playing Squad TDM. I can only manage 2 - 3 games playing solo, where as if I'm with friends, a lot more.

COD: MW2 is more for those who enjoy fast paced shooters with a guaranteed 5 - 10+ kill each game.
BF: BC2 is more for those who enjoy to sit back, work in teams and play a game that feels satisfying when you've won.

Both are so similar, being that they are Modern Warfare games, but both so different in their game style.

I'm on the 360. I know BF: BC2 is a hell of a lot better on PC. Just owns!

Hope this can shed some light on both of them.

I usually don't do that myself. I have one friend that I did that with.
Also the friend thing was screwy before and it might still be. I know I had to have my friend and I logged in but not in a game/server to get it to work, just the main bc2 screen. Not sure if the last patched fixed that.
Just a heads up...

COD for life. It would be nice to be able to control vehicles, though..

Other than that, COD > Battlefield.

Battlefield easily. The older CoD games were amazing, particularly for singleplayer, but for the new games, and for multiplayer in general, the Battlefield series is far greater. BF2 + BFBC2 are both amazing games.

Edit: Forgot to mention, if you've only played the new BF games, give BF2 a try. It's better and worse in different ways, no destructible environments, worse graphics, but more classes, more players (64 max), etc - so it's worth playing more than just one BF game, it's an awesome series.

i know this is an old thread but, Im def a battlefield man. 1942 is still one of my fav games that i spend hours each week playing. call of duty is such an inferior series compared to the battlefield series in everyway. the only one i havent gotten my hands yet is bf vietnam.

Got BFBC2 around October. Got BlkOps for Xmas. 86 hours logged on BF. 13 mins on BlkOps. BFBC2 ia hugely superior in my books. Playing on a very high end PC too.

Feel free to add me on BFBC2. Syn13

I snagged BC2 when Steam was doing the Holiday sales.

I've traditionally been kindof "meh" on war games. Tom Clancy tactical and espionage ones, okay....but one where kids run around simulating real life battle...that real people die in? Vietnam was loads of fun for the people who were there, I'm sure.

Party pooping aside...

BC2 is a cool game. I think its my first actual war FPS I've owned. Cant judge on COD, but I had friends who were into it when I was younger.

I think battlefeild is far better.. Better online, and campaign IMO.
I am comparing ModernWarfar(1&2)/black ops with Bad Company 1 and 2
