Stuff needed
Quart jar Coffee filter Karo/Honey Pot/Pressure cooker Yeast (optional) Scale Measuring cup/ measuring spoons
Take the quart jar and add 250mls of water to it (tap water is fine)
Now add 250mls of water into a pot and bring to a boil, add the ¼ teaspoon of yeast now and turn off heat in 1 minute (If you don’t use yeast skip this step and add all the water 500mls into the quart jar)
Now position a coffee filter over the mouth of the jar and screw on a lid ring to hold it in place .Pour the water you just boiled through the coffee filter (this step can be skipped to if you did not use the yeast)
Now weight out 16 grams of either karo or honey (I found that just under 1 tablespoon is around 16 grams) add it to the quart jar.
Slap on a regular lid and shake the hell out of it, then put on a filtered GE lid and cover top in foil and pressure cook between 15-20 minutes
Wait for it to cool down then inoculate with whatever you want

I thought you were anti LC dude?
I found that if you put a bit of sawdust in, you get way more growth as well. However it can be a chore sucking it into a small syringe.
I suck up as much as I can until it clogs, spit a bit back out, and then do it again.

I am I'm all for grain LC's but this give newer people a easy step by step way of making up a simple LC, so instead of me explaining it to people who ask I can just give them this link

If it was sterile and done in a good environment you would have a cloned LC

Interesting. I suppose boiling the yeast kills it? Cause yeast + sugar = alcohol and CO2.

I'm not quite sure how yeast is benificial, but it is in some of FF's recipes.
Good question.

im about to spawn my WBS to some compost (first grow..going great so far!)
i think this is definitely what i will be doing with my remaining spores...havent decided on the yeast or not though...but i definitely would like something like something that colonizes a little faster than MS for the next grow!
how many CC's from a spore syringe would you recommend for one of these jars?

Nice Karo LC write up Shea. That's kickin' it old school.
The boards have been starving a little bit for a simple LC tek. Although, Karo/Honey LC's have a higher contamination rate then other liquid media recipes due to Karo/Honey's amount of sugars in Karo/Honey liquid mediums. It is an quick, easy, and effective way to make a LC.
Nutritional Yeast is an excellent additive for your liquid media. The nutrition in the yeast helps growth rates increase dramatically with the Karo/Honey tek.
