Long term effects of Flouride exposure on the brain

I have read that flouride causes calcification of the pineal gland. Does anyone here have knowledge on this subject or of any related studies that have been conducted?
What's your position on flouride in drinking water?

Public water fluoridation is fact but people think it's all a crazy fucking conspiracy.

Yeah, sadly it sounds like too much of a crazy conspiracy for people to get interested enough to actually look into it.
It is actually happening though.

No one is denying fluoridation happens. That's fact.
All of the unsubstantiated panic mongering about its supposed effects, THAT is the tinfoil hat stuff.
EDIT: and to the limited extent that I care about fluoridation, I am for it. I am the son of a physician, and when we lived in places WITHOUT fluoridated water, I took fluoride pills. I'm not sure if it's a result, but I've never had a cavity. As far as "calcified pineal gland" or whatever, I've got no health problems I'm aware of.

Connecting it to government activity is the conspiracy part.

Those of you who think that the fluoride in the water supply is harmful should just move to Africa

There's going to be drugs in the water system no matter what because they can't filter out the drugs that people flush down the toilet like tylenol and stuff.
And fluoride occurs naturally however it's at a much lower level.

Plenty of places in the US dont fluoridate either. My municipal water does not have added fluoride. It the local communities decision.

To avoid discussing it?
It is already well known that sodium fluoride, even in low doses, builds in brain tissue and impairs several functions of the organism, including loss of IQ.
The OP is not talking about government conspiracy, but asking an important health related question.

Sodium fluoride? Thats a solid. When its put into water you get fluoride ions. Is that what you meant, ionic fluoride?
edit- Ok, I think I get it from your link. They solid they use to add flouride is NaF, the sodium is just incidental.

It's tough that the CDC, NIH, and so on haven't thrown out the rest of the research on the basis of the one study you found.
http://www.cdc.gov/fluoridation/safety.htm
The preponderance of the evidence suggests that fluoridation is safe and effective.
Do you believe vaccines cause autism too?

The only risk you have from drinking fluoridated water is the possibility of developing dental fluorosis (faint white to brown staining of the teeth) which is purely of aesthetic concern. Studies have consistently failed to prove any links with adverse health effects.
The graph below shows the dmft scores (measure of dental decay) in Ayr in which the water has never been fluoridated and Kilmarn where the water was fluoridated briefly. The reduction is dental decay is obvious and the increase after water fluoridation ceased is evidence for the benefits it provides to oral health. It is also has a universal effect in society so the less advantaged, to whom good oral hygiene may be less well instilled, benefit.
