The many faces of Deconica turficola

This cool little mushroom takes on a variety of disguises...

Sometimes they look like something that could pass for Psilocybe silvatica...

Sometimes they look like some of Cactu's Mexican Psilocybes... Mine...
 Cactu's...
Sometimes they kinda look like the caramel-capped Psilocybes from the west coast...

And sometimes they just like to be themselves...

And once, one even showed a little bluing where I accidentallt cracked the stem on a wet specimen. By time I got it home, part of it was almost black. Unusual for what by all accounts is a non-bluing species. My observation is that they immeadiately bruise a purple/brown color; of which I have no pics of at this time. I will add some to this thread in the fall.
Whether you call it Deconia turficola or Psilocybe atrobrunnea, whether it is active or not, this mushroom holds big magic for me...

Thanks, Snork! Where you been? How's your mushroom (morel) season going?

Just finished up the semester, so I was kinda busy with school. But, found my first morel yesterday, and the oysters have started poppin. So, things should really get started going here soon! I may go on a little oyster hunt today (oysters or fishing, tough decision).
Peace, and keep up the superb hunting and photography.

Very nice (as always)!
Is this the same species as this one:
http://www.stridvall.se/fungi/gallery/Psilocybe/SV11_094 http://www.stridvall.se/fungi/gallery/Psilocybe/AAAA3183 http://www.stridvall.se/fungi/gallery/Psilocybe/AAAA3180
At the first (of these) photos, isn't that a little bluing at the bases or is it just my monitor?
I tried to find them last year but no luck. Will try harder + bio assay for activity if I find many enough.
Always the same moss present!

Those sure do look active. Especially the one with the intense bruising. The variations in this mushroom are incredible!

It's the European version the one that was originally described...I don't know if they're exactly the same or not.

Yeah, that's kinda my point. Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World says, "Possibly active. Hoiland (1978) reported psilocybin activity from specimens collected in Norway. No other studies are known to me."

No, not yet.

Beautiful pics, and wonderful thread!
BTW, it is Deconica, not Deconia. And it appears as if it is technically still a Psilocybe.
