Aloe vera problem - limp leaves?

I have 4 Aloe plants and at least 3 of the 4 have had mature leaves turn grey/bluish on part of the topside and go limp. I was assuming this was some sort of over-watering problem creating mold/rot...
I started watering less, less frequently and on the first 2 plants i removed the affected leaves from the base of the plant. The first 2 are pupping - but the mold has appeared on a 3rd plant now...
I am just wondering what is causing this - because over/under watering doesn't seem to be it. :S

man aloe has to be the easiest succulent to grow. in fact all are pretty easy.
if i had to say, it'd be that you are over watering. in fact don even water them at all. mine seem to grow like crazy and i have yet to give them one drop of water.
hope they get better cause aloe is an amazing plant.

I water mine all the time and they are doing fantastic...
I have found that they grow best in partial shade, my huge aloe mother plant that I recently posted flowering is grown directly underneath my big honeysuckle tree, so it gets shade most of the day. It seems to love it, it's pupped 4 or 5 good sized plants already that I've been giving out to friends. I love how they pup already-rooted plants off the side of them, so convenient.

Are the lowest leaves becoming limp/ brown where they meet the base of the plant? Cause that's what my plant is doing and I don't know what to make of it. I stopped watering completely a couple weeks ago cause of this.

Sounds similar, but mine are distinctly bluish/grey, almost spotted where they are limp.
Seem to be doing better since i pruned the affected areas off and cut back on the water - I was just surprised to see this other plant developing the same problem as the others which have since recovered.

Yeah mine is/was doing something similar. Starting to look better since I stopped the watering. I'm thinking the only water they need is the morning dew.

It took me forever to get my aloe to be the way I wanted it. I kept reading how to do it right, but nothing worked. I put mine in indirect sunlight and water often. Finally got it green again.

It's because there are so many factors that affect plants. Where they are located, how much sun they're getting, how well draining of soil they're in, particular strain, pot they're in, soil they're in, weather, temperature, etc etc...
So some people need to water often, and some need to seldom water. Really the only way you truly know when to water is by checking... I always just go by the "top 2-3 inches" rule that I read somewhere. If the top 2-3 inches of soil is dry, go ahead and water.
