Loads of Galerinas out in my usual spots today, no actives, its been to warm and to dry so far.
I did however discover how there came to be such a abundance of subs in my area. Apparently there was a student who took liquid cultures into the area and spread them through every mulch bed and garden in the area.... I love this guy!!

haha, sounds like something nobbit would do

Haha you know where i hunt dont you Xray... :P, well its not like its a big secret... there was so much mycelium in the garden beds that there was a layer of pure white under the surface, in every bed. But to dry and warm for subs, the rainforest had loads of galerinas, some idiot was picking them.....

Hey Iceman,
Yeah quite few were longer than my hand. Will try to post more post-harvest pics soon.
Cheers!

eandlik

Great pics of your first hunt for the season. Some great examples of Subs at different stages in their lifecycle.:mushroom2:

Very Nice!

Photos of the haul [Re: johnny_peyote]

Hey all,

As mentioned earlier, here are the photos from the picking.

Most of these have been drying since last weekend.

I included a dollar coin to try and give the pics some perspective.
Again these were found in SW NSW, first pick of the season. Looks like it's going to be good one!

Cheers dudes!

yeah, a lot of fungii in the area. there are quite a few strophs around too. problem is, that you come across every enthusiast and their dog looking around, and you see where ppl have not harvested properly, and just pulled the fruit out with the rest of the myc and made a mess of it all.

this year i'm gonna attempt to find more remote, wild patches. see how i go.

Yup they sure are.
Last season I was lucky enough to be taken out by some experienced pickers a few times. By my 2nd time out I wasn't picking any imposters.
I occasionally still have to bend the old back, and have a touch to confirm the imposter, but not too often anymore.

Whoops, just noticed i wrote SW NSW, that should have been SE NSW...lol

Cheers dudes!

Quick question,
I've seen how people have been finding Cubensis in Northern NSW. I've always wondered why we wouldn't find the same in the cooler parts of NSW around spring-time.
We often have a fairly wet spring/early summer around here.
Any thoughts?

It depends how south you are, it might just be too cold for them

While we're on that subject, and to save making a new thread, can someone inform me or link me to some good info on cubes?

I've never really found a lot of info. Just want to know some basics about where and how they grow. ie, temp, humidty, rain etc.
And do they only grow from cow poop?

I would answer your question but I don't know jack about cubes.
I'm sure searching shroomery, wikipedia & erowid would give you all the answers and links u need though...

Start here maybe?:

Wow awesome haul man, nice job!:thumbup: looks like down south really goes off for sub hunting.

Had my first decent finds of the season today, my other patches are starting to fruit. So far that's 3 of 5 patches fruiting, but there's still 1 i havent had time to check yet. Some photos from today:
