It is the most beautiful and colorful mushroom in existence and they made a special genus just for it.
If you find it again take lots of macro pictures!

Well i went back today to try and take some more photos of the little red guys. There were plenty of them around but the camera i brought with me was pretty much useless. If anyone is thinking of buying an Olympus fe26, DONT! they are terrible. These are the best photos i could get:
Also picked these subs while i was there:

Found a solitary and tiny sub in one of my other spots, so hopefully thats a good sign some other areas are starting to fruit. Still really dry around here though.

Loads of Galerinas out in my usual spots today, no actives, its been to warm and to dry so far. I did however discover how there came to be such a abundance of subs in my area. Apparently there was a student who took liquid cultures into the area and spread them through every mulch bed and garden in the area.... I love this guy!!

Found one solitary sub today.
Well, I kicked it over and then my girlfriend (who's never hunted actives, nor knows what they really look like) says "oi, look what you did!"
And she's holding a sub. I was pretty amused.
99% sure its a sub. Will post some pics in a while. Trying to get a bit of a spore print at the moment.
Can anyone tell me whats the best way to dry it out? If I just leave it sitting on some paper on my desk, will that be sufficient? Or do I need to get it into a particularly warm area? (on the mantle above a fire perhaps?)

Why are like 98% of the people in this forum Australian? Is that like the best place eon earth to find shrooms or something? Or can you guys just not get spores to grow your own?

Australia is a great place for mushrooms and yes we can also get spores.

Spores are possible to get (I assume anyway, never tried) but it is so much easier to just go and find them.

Hey Sanchez,
I'm a long-time lurker, first time poster. Just thought I'd share these pics with everyone.
Taken from my first shroom hunt this season, last Saturday and this my 2nd season hunting. They were found in south west NSW in my fav spots from last year.
I'll upload pics of the entire haul later...
Peace
