I mean like this, where you altered the color of Clitocybe nuda:

Blue Wit my ass

It's hard to believe you now, no offense.

Only photoshopped photo huh? *EDIT, I see now that the Clitocybe photo wasn't photshopped, but was altered with lighting effects or whatever.

I know you don't care what I think, I just wanted everyone in the thread above that was amazed to know that you aren't to be trusted in matters such as extreme color variants if mushrooms.

That's fine.  After all this is the Shroomery.  Thanks for adding the edit.  It wasn't photoshopped.  I don't even know how to photoshop a color.  Here, like everywhere, people will believe what they want to believe.

It's all good, if you did find a "greenie", then that is super cool.

Thanks.  I thought so too until you started doubting it.

I noticed other odd colors in the blacks and mentioned it earlier in the first post.

I know for certain those mushrooms are "blacks".  But they don't look like it.  I think the rain is doing this.

It's all good, I think.

Just finished cooking them.  I have 20 pounds dried from last year so this year I am eating them or selling them. Last night was baked potatoes with sauteed morels, butter, and sour cream with chives.  Tonight is sauteed morels over rice.

Thanks for asking.

Excellent idea.  With the shift in the weather, temps up to 92 today and no rain for days, the "color"  has gone back to "normal."  I'll be sure to remember if they are fruiting with lots of rain, be on the look out for odd coloration.

Here's some of today's.  First a photo of a "patch."  Yes, there is a morel in there.  Who can find it?  We hunted for 30 minutes to find 7 Blacks.  Very little vegetation and mostly just leaves, but boy, can these things hide.

The "haul."

You are doing much better than I. I've been out 6 times in the past 2 week and have only found 2 greys and 3 yellows. None in the place I found them last year. I don't know if it has just been too dry or what. I'll likely head out again in a day or too. I really wanted enough to make a mushroom pie.

I had a great year last year with about 40 blacks and yellows. This year has been shit with only 2 from my best spot. Some places have had a bad year but I still hear of some people finding nice messes. There is no rhyme or reason to these rascals.

That sucks.  If you didn't find them in the places you looked last year does that mean you didn't find them last year in the places you found them this year?  In the past when I used to just wander the forest in the hopes of finding some, they seemed sporadic.  It was like they were wandering the forest just like I was.  In the past ten years I started paying close attention to the conditions.  Now I am able to predict where they will be and when they will be there.  The "misses" I explain by poor timing of the hunt to the conditions.  Morels do not come up simultaneously at every place at the same time.  Forests have micro-climates.  Most notably for morels Southern and Northern exposures.  Every spot I hunted last year has produced Blacks for me this year.  I know where to go, and, just as importantly, when.

Here's two more from today.
